I usually wear a photo ID that says Bail Agent, should I consider something for my recovery assistants?

Should I invest in Badges or just a laminated card with Bail Recovery Agent written on it?

I was in a situation recently where it was easy to ID me, but my security guy didn't have anything.

Personally I do not see the need for a badge. An ID card would be enough. We aren't law enforcement. Just my opinion. Less chances of being mistaken as a LEO. Plus I think AZ doesn't allow us to wear badges anyway.

Here in Miami almost EVERY Bondsman that is going on a pick up is wearing a Badge..and may have their ID card on the rear portion of the leather badge holder. I have my ID Card in my wallet.. and when needed pull it out for Law Enforcement when and if they ask to see it which is very seldom..

Ron,

If I understand your question you are on one hand saying you wear something identifying you as a Bail Agent but want advice as to whether your fellow Bail Agents need a Badge, Laminated ID, etc?

If you wear something to identify yourself, why would you not make damn sure the very people there to help you have that same identification so maybe, just maybe, they won't be mistaken for a bad guy and get hurt....That is a no brainer man.

If I misunderstood, (I really hope I did) please correct me.

That is my point exactly.

I've read through some posts and read on other sites that ID's and or badges are not needed. Some one even told me that as long as the bail agent is present the others don't need an ID.

I am of the opinion that all should have something and I am considering just a generic laminated card that says "Agent" at the top, has a picture of the traditional bail recovery badge" and "Bail Recovery" at the bottom. They are in my possession unless we are out in the field.

My main question is what is the best thing for them to wear? Badge or ID card of some sort.

Ibelieve that this all depends on the state and local laws.....The state of Georgia has a set regulation but each county can (and do) tweek these. Standard ID cards have to have a picture, height, weight, and firearm permit number while some require drivers license number, date of birth, and still other counties require the card to include the signature of each bondsman that use you. You also have some LE and/or bondsmen that will only recognize/use recovery personnel that own and carry a "professional looking" badge with their ID. So there is no rule of thumb....atleast not in Georgia. Personally, I just go with the most detailed guideline and overkill the whole situation so that all of my bases are covered before an issue arises.
