To add to my earlier post. Chuck Jordan who contributed to this article is a member of FRN and also with National Association of Fugitive Recovery Agents. Marcel Centeno also contributed to this article and is a member of NABBI. It speaks volumes that these two gentlemen would have been sought to give their views on this subject. Again, really good article and even better that Chuck and Marcel were asked to give their professional opinions on the matter. Great job guys!!

Bill

Thanks Bill, I agree that being organized is an important part of getting the right message out about our industry and both NAFRA and NABBI have a part in that. The prison escape is of course not a bail bond situation but the public and media dont really make the distinction, fugitives are fugitives to them and when it comes to fugitives "bounty hunters" apparently make for more interesting news. Our profession is under attack and we can use all the positive PR we can get. I"m sure you guys remember that incident in AZ back in 1997 that went viral and was a catalyst for a lot of knee jerk legislation, it didn't matter that the perpetrators turned out not to be "bounty hunters". I have already been contacted by the media about the situation in TN and it's starting to look like it may be used to our detriment. However, I was glad that I had the opportunity to advocate for the industry and point out that we are business people trying to make a living, not trying to create liability or get sued, but we do have a right to defend ourselves if the situation requires it. Last week I did a TV interview about the prison escapees, a good interview but I was a bit surprised at some of the captions I saw later. They asked me about some techniques bounty hunters use and I mentioned the mouse trap. Next thing I know there's a caption saying the Police are using a mouse trap technique to find the escapees, and I never said that. So it goes to show that you have to be careful when speaking to the media.
