Nevada charged $40.00 per bail bond back whenever I operated there and some courts required separate bonds for each charge...

Right now, the law is for the surety to pay the $30. We are working on passing the cost along to the defendant.
As Jason stated, in Nevada there is a per CHARGE FEE tacked on. So if you have 5 charges, its $40 times 5. All that is passed on to the defendant.
Many including myself are for it. It will help clean up the bad actors and level the playing field also.
California DOI has 4 investigators to handle over 3,000 bail agents and the all the complaints that have increased dramatically in the last 15 years. These 4 are also called off bail enforcement to help with auto, workers comp and medical insurance fraud.
So most bail agents know that its a good chance that they will never be investigated unless there are numerous very serious complaints filed against them.
