Another Jail, another sign

Two new facilities have gone up in our neck of the woods... literally... the woods... Mecklenburg county just opened their facility and we got the jump on the competition by erecting the first... and only bail bonds sign that can be set within one mile of another (DOT regulations)... we are 250 yds. from the entrance to the newest facility... got it up today... Dawn did all the leg work... and I have to tell you it is not an easy task... you have to clear a lot of hurdles... DOT, Utilities, permits, land owners... permission from all and regulations to follow... and she did it all.... two of our friends did the heavy lifting... and I stood around barking orders and drinking diet DR. Pepper.... and taking pictures...

The other facility is in Alberta.... Meherrin River Regional Jail... we got the first sign up there... thanks to Dawn and her efforts... as usual... I did nothing but smile and drink Diet Dr. Pepper.... and take pictures... oh... I did run the chain saw and screwed in a couple of wood screws and furnished some of the tools... but that was it.....

Of course, here is the other sign at MRRJ.... which opened last fall....



I would tell you that I planted the little yellow flowers, but of course, you know I didn't.....

Entrance to this jail is about 200 yds to the right of this sign.... no other signs allowed within one mile of this one.... again... DOT regulations.... got it in writing...........


I have to tell you that I am very proud to have a daughter that is so conscientious and professional in her work ethic.... and has the energy and 'get up and go' to get these things done in a proper manner.... thank God she is running this show.... cause all I do is sit around and drink Diet Dr. Pepper and take pictures... and tell a few stories.................

Well, we have several that we deal with, Blackstone and South Hill area.... this particular sign was actually at another location that was closed.... it is actually almost 2 years old and has held up extremely well... we pay a little more for the material but it pays off in the long run....

... here are a couple of pictures several years ago, I first put up this sign.... grandson in front... and then when Dawn joined in the group and became licensed then we upgraded to a much more resilient sign that stood the weather much better.... and that one is the one that we moved to the new location... as you can see, it is holding up quite well.

The first sign was simply plywood painted... the second is actually a photo image that is pasted on a thick plastic board that will outlast any other material.... more expensive of course but very weather proof... I think these signs are around $500 for a 4X8... maybe a bit higher but not much... depends on the colors I think...

We have added solar lights to the upper corners.... which helps at nite of course....

We took the old sign on the left to one of the local baseball fields and had it attached to the fence down the first base line... which of course is where everyone looks when there is a hit..... just more advertising.... gotta get your name out there if your gonna do any business... can't sit around the office and wait for the phone to ring.... at least we don't...
