Texas Bounty Hunters started a campaign in Texas to Get Legal or Get out about 5 years ago. The objective is to improve the relationships that we as BEA's have with Law Enforcement agencies statewide. We have been working for years at improving the opinion and attitude Law Enforcement in Texas has with regards to Bounty Hunters. Two days ago members of the Texas Bounty Hunters team were approached by a deputy while in the field and were asked for, their Investigators ID, the signed arrest authority from the surety and the signed contract between the licensed company and the surety. All of these things are required in Texas and this is the first time we have ever been challenged in the field. Of course the boys had their ducks in a row. The deputy had the information and confidence to ask for the required documents because we have been sending a news letter to every Texas Sherriff for the last few months, we know it was our news letter because he asked for the documents in the same order we have been giving them the information. This made for a Great Day at Texas Bounty Hunters because we have worked so hard to improve the reputation and professionalism in our industry in Texas. We are members of the Sherrifs Association and demostrate our support for Law Enforcement Agencies by being active members. Today we were notified that two deputies from Johnson County Texas will be attending our Bounty Hunting 101 and Laws class this week in New Branfels Texas. The significance of this is that Law Enforcement is starting to recognize that we are a legitimate industry. By giving LEO’s the tools to police our industry we will only improve the quality of BEA’s that are operating in Texas. It is a small but important victory in the ongoing battle to be recognized as professionals and be treated as such. Our battle is in Texas for now but with the help and guidance of organizations like NABBI we are confident that the attitude and opinions law enforcement has about BEA’s will start to change across the country. Regards

Charlie, looking forward to meeting you in Philly. Great work in Texas and hopefully we will be able to expand on what you have begun, consistently, nationwide.

Scott, Thanks and sorry but I won’t make Philly this year I am on the state board for another association ASSIST and had committed to attending that convention last year and unfortunatley it is during the same period as the NABBI conference. But I will be active and I will be at the next NABBI gathering. Have a great time at the conference and make sure someone gives us daily updates. We will attend vicariously through you.... Regards

Charlie, that is freakin' awesome! That sort of rapport, understanding with and education of our local LEOs nation wide is what we all strive for! Or should, anyway. Again, awesome.

That is a really good idea. We had actually been thinking about asking the local POST Acd if we could come in and do a quick lecture on Recovery Laws and Regs in Cal to the classes. So many officers dont know a thing about Recovery Agents roll. It would show what most of us really are about rather than what they see on TV.

It gets better...
The same department now wants us to come to their training facility and have a one day seminar with all of their deputies and police officers from the city they are located in. About 40 officers. The commander also offered to walk us to all of the bail bond companies and personally introduce them to us. The bail bondsman are also invited (gratis of course), of all the people in Texas who operate outside the law, Bail Bondsmen are the most prolific. We offer the Texas Laws class free of charge to LEO's and Bail Agents.
We look forward to it and we hope it spreads like wild fire. I don't have to tell any of you the significance of this invitation.
I will keep you posted. Holy crap! What have we started...LOL

Great job again! Like others have said, this is what we need to do on a national level. That way we can get rid of the doggie wanna be's and add a minimum level of prfessionalism to the "profession." Maybe we can get rid of doggie himself.
