Captured Fugitive: Christopher Padilla – DOB 09/23/1982
03/01/2012- ASLT CONTACT – ENHANCED REPEAT OFFENDER
HAYS COUNTY BOND AMOUNT - $150,000.00
Currently in custody Howard County Jail

On 09/12/2012 Texas Bounty Hunters TX DPS LC A16879, a licensed Texas Private Investigations firm based in Austin Texas tracked down and captured a felony fugitive wanted in Hays County Texas.

The day for Texas Bounty Hunters started out in Leander TX, they made the 70 mile drive to New Branfels, TX where the girlfriend of the fugitive lives. After some discussion with an informant we were told that the fugitive and the girlfriend were planning to flee the state. Apparently the fugitive had seriously assaulted the girlfriend a week or so before in Comal County and charges are pending there. The girlfriend refused to cooperate with County officials in regards to prosecution for the assault and spent the better part of 9/12/2012 at the district attorney’s office and the sheriff’s department trying to get the charges dropped. We are guessing that our fugitive decided that since he had pending charges it would only make his situation worse so he convinced his girlfriend to not prosecute and had her do everything she could to have the DA and Sheriff’s office drop the case, apparently even recanting her original statement. As you can see from this defendant’s criminal history listed below, this isn’t his first rodeo.

Hays County Criminal History – Christopher Padilla - DOB 09/23/1982
03/01/2012- ASLT CONTACT – ENHANCED REPEAT OFFENDER

Texas Bounty Hunters investigators conducted surveillance on the girlfriend while she packed her car and prepared for what appeared to be an extended road trip, packing just about everything she owned into her vehicle. Having been tipped off that she might be heading to Big Spring Texas to pick up the fugitive who had apparently fled there a few days before to avoid being arrested on new charges investigators for Texas Bounty Hunters broke off surveillance with the girlfriend and headed to Big Spring hoping to get a head start in order to recon possible locations in Big Spring and setup surveillance.

After a 5 hour drive Texas Bounty Hunters arrived in Big Spring around 11:30PM and notified local law enforcement of their presence and intentions. After some discussion the Big Spring Police Department representative decided they would not be able participate in the apprehension but did say they would respond in the event of an emergency.

A few hours later around 1:45am the girlfriend driving in from Hwy 87 arrived in Big Spring as expected, she was tracked to a house previously unknown to Texas Bounty Hunters at the corner of State and Bluebonnet. After setting up surveillance the fugitive and the girlfriend were spotted walking up the street and entering the house on State and Bluebonnet. Having made a positive ID of the fugitive and being certain the fugitive was occupying the residence Texas Bounty Hunters made an approach to the house and were able to gain voluntary compliance from the occupants.
After a few minutes the fugitive eventually came out of the house without incident and was transported by Texas Bounty Hunters to the Howard County Jail for booking. The fugitive now defendant is being held on 150K bond awaiting extradition from Howard to Hays County Texas. The girlfriend though a victim of this fugitive was in our opinion also culpable in his attempted escape. Even the possibility of a felony charge of hindering apprehension did not deter her from helping him attempt to flee the state to avoid prosecution.

A special thanks from Texas Bounty Hunters to the Sherriff’s and deputies and officers of the Hays County Sherriff’s office Comal County Sherriff’s office, the Big Spring Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff’s office. Without their understanding of the role and authority we operate under as Texas Bounty Hunters our job would be much more difficult. All of these agencies are outstanding examples of how working together as professionals to track, apprehend and capture dangerous fugitives, is beneficial not only law enforcement agencies but to the community at large.
