I have looked at the recommended reading section of the forum and I was wondering which one of the books is the best for someone with no experience in the industry? I want to start my own bail bond company and there are several books that are recommended but I would like to know what you guys think is the best one.

There is never a "one" best. All will have very important information provided in different ways or expierences.

If you really want to be a Bail Bondsman and not Dog the bounty hunter, I recommend Bail Bonds 101.

you can find it listed in the recommended books section.

I have no financial interest and am in no way associated with them, but I have read it and recommend it to all of our interns.

good luck in your future endeavors

While books can provide general fundamental principles, they cannot provide specific, "hands on" training which I believe is absolutely mandatory for both sides of this industry.

I strongly suggest you hire on with an existing bonding company, keeping your personal goal to yourself, then after a year or so you go out on your own.

Additionally, I would take as many online courses as you can, attend as many NABBI functions as possible, and ask for copies of existing, time proven documents:

*Bail Bond Application
*Indemnitor Contract
*Promissory Note
*Extradition Waiver
*Writ of siezure or quick claim deed
*Reference List w/COMPLETE contact information.
*Court motion preparation-time extensions, NCIC requests, bond exoneration, etc.

Now bearing in mind, documents from other states can only serve as models for you to customize to meet your specific state's laws and should be reviewed before usage by an attorney who specializes in contracts.

While writing this, a thought occurred to me, that perhaps at the next NABBI meeting, a class could be given on document preparation, usage, and standardization.

Hopefully you will join NABBI and come to our next function.
