“Now, because of a bunch of bravado on the part of these lawless bounty hunters, the lives of this family are in ruins”

wow... this sound's like narration from an old dime novel.

So... those folks were just proper citizens minding their own business when set upon by bounty hunters. Why do I suspect the story was written with a distinct bias?

After all, they were the usual fine folks anybody would have for neighbors. Aside from the rap sheets they all seemed to have!!!

There is more to be told, of that I'm certain!

The article is lacking as far as witness statements go.

While I usually refrain from comment until all of the facts are presented, numerous opinions of the alleged innocent victims with no oposing viewpoint is not a story but an opinion piece. The simple question for me is, why were they there? What information did they have that led them to that house? Thje alleged victim stated that the defendamt does not live there "All oif the time" which means that is her residence and why they were there.

Another example of LOW IMPACT FUGITIVE RECOVERY and the reason why it should be applied! No court exonerates a bond and recalls a warrant because it is a minor or misdemeanor charge. The re is a risk vs. reward scenario here. How much will it cost you to pay the bond and sue the indemnitor as opposed to defending your self for the absolutely coming civil suit...mitigating liability requires one to go through this thought process and determine the acceptability of risk and exactly who you trust to protect your interests. GO PRO all of the time!

If by low impact you mean , don't try to bully your way into a residence, I agree. If they were there talking to the residents, and a fight broke out because criminals can sometimes be rude and of questionable manners/morals, then I can't say for sure that any type of approach would have been better.

WEAR - YOUR - BODY - ARMOR and other protective equipment.

Let me first say that I am very glad that the BEA in this matter has survived the assault. The concept of low impact fugitive recovery is not for just when you arrive at a fugitives suspected residence. It should start the moment you open the case file, in how you go about conducting interviews, reviewing court and criminal histories, and surveillance and the vehicles used for it.

I do not believe in Monday morning quarterbacking another BEA’s in field action, however this case lends its self to some serious agent safety review . If the agents had been to the alleged home of the fugitive once and told that she did not reside there why go again and stir that hornets nest. If in fact they truly believed that the fugitive resided at the home, why not set up a covert surveillance and apprehend her coming or going from the home.

The alleged actions of the BEA’s in question fall within the doctrine of “Respondeat Superior “ a civil tort wherein the employer (Bondsmen) is responsible for the actions of his employees. The purpose of low impact recovery is two-fold, first is the issue of agent safety which should be foremost on the minds of every agent during an operation, and secondly the issue of liability. What and how can a recovery agent or team lessen the liability that his employer is exposed to each time he or she assigns a case for investigation and recovery.

The aforementioned comments in no way support the action of the perpetrators charged in the assaults on the BEA’s.

Thanks Gene for clarifying my post. It was meant to be educational and not a personal attack. We don't need to pay for the same real estate twice, and should be open minded enough to learn from the actions of others.
