Just returned from posting bail on a 19 year old hot head. Filled out the paperwork and was waiting for the Grandmother to come sign as the indemnitor. Well, she showed up and my hot headed bondee started screaming at this elderly lady, started to get in her face when I put him on his butt. Didn't hit the guy, just put him on the ground.

First time I've ever posted bail and did a semi recovery at the same time. Anyways, I walked him to intake and surrendered him. I deal with hot heads quite often but usually not within a few minutes of posting bail.

Going to bed !!

I am willing to bet that Grandma will try to have him bonded out again, because that is her baby boy.

Bill, I'm awfully ashamed of myself. I should have been more mellow and understanding with the young man's plight. We've all at one time or another gotten in our Grandmothers face all the while cussing her out. Haven't we? In hindsight I should have minded my own business and let Gradma defend herself but as you stated I am also a hot head and just go off at nothing. You saw how badly I treated the skip at Denny's. Think maybe I should get somwe anger management.

Gene, you are correct sir. Bail was posted a couple hours ago.

What do you think your chances are that you will get a call for recovery on this one???? 8) Since you know the bondsman that wrote it... maybe you could just give him a quick call and a heads up... being the nice guy that you are....

I fiddled around with a bond for a couple of weeks... female defendant... $5000. local girl... kids were staying with her supposed friends... mother and father lived in Missouri... no money, no strong local indemnitors... kept calling me and after 2 calls I stopped taking the calls from the jail... I was over there a few days ago and another bondsman was in the mag. office doing her bond... I just smiled at him.... yesterday... my inside man at the jail (info only) told me she had missed her court date and a capias was out on her and a show cause was issued on the bondsman ........................ aaauuuuuuwwwww gheeeeeee........

... seems the skinny on this is that she left for Missouri............... ohhh nnnnooooooooooooo....

Bill, the chances are 100 percent as I recover skips for the company that bonded him out. I really hope he does miss court, for two reasons. 1. The bondsman posted bail knowing the problem he gave his grandmother, 2. I really want to show him what a full fledged recovery feels like. Had to be there !!

I am really appalled that professionals such as us would sit around hoping a defendant would skip just for the hell of it....

I do it all the time.

I get calls for bails from people I know who are going to run as soon as they get their feet outside the door.

Some other bail company will come along and post that bond and others just like that and spend have their time chasing skips and trying to collect the rest of the bail premium.

Also, I like it when I get a call from the surety HQ wanting a posting done for an out of area bail agent. I look at the charges and can tell this person is not coming back up here for court.

Sure enough I get the forfeiture notice and I pass it along to the surety HQ and just smile.

We have many bail bond companies in CA that want to write bail state wide, so they put phone numbers in all the local books and when they get a call, they will have a local agent post for them.

Well,I do quite a few for a particular surety and on average, 9 out of the 10 I post ends up FTA'ing.

I make a few bucks in addition to the posting fee by filing motions for them on the forfeitures.

Its easy money with no liability.

Yup, I do sit back and laugh at them. Sorry for not being more professional. But we all need a good laugh every now and then.

Tony,

That was the point of the tongue and cheek comment. 8) We all laugh at the fools that post any bond for anybody, and say the hell with it lets just get the money and hope for the best. This is good for me as a recovery agent yet sad for a industry that is being pushed out by the bail reformers.

I'm surprised you were able to turn him right back in. It may be different in your A/O but here once you sign your name to the bond, he's free. The only way the co-signer can get close enough to the bondee to have a discussion is after the bondee is bonded and released. Then we have to wait for the bond to be filed into the system by the circuit or city clerk so we can aply for a BP.

Just wondering...
