Just a follow up to the apprehension: Note the press release offered to the media...

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, October 18 at 5:00pm, Tpr. S. M. Morton served a Bench Warrant (T3-15007) on Katelyn L. Beavers, 25, of Leonardtown. The warrant was issued on June 23 by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of CDS Possession - Paraphernalia. Ms. Beavers was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

Ms. Beavers was located at the detention center and this was a 3rd warrant served incident to her apprehension by Mr. Reilly and myself, that was served by MD State Police Trooper Morton. He served the warrant on a subject that was in custody, he did not locate or transport her...we got paid so who cares, but to publicly take credit for this is BS.

They always seem to take the credit. I don't know if you remember when Detective Padget did the same thing Scott. Anyways it is BS, but brush it off your shoulders Bob the important thing is that you both know the truth. Hope everyone is blessed! Hey Bob are you gonna be licsenced in VA at all? Take care!

Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. I've effected the exoneration of bonds on 3 very distinctive high profile violent offenders over the years and HPD took credit for all 3 of them. All 3 had been featured on local tv stations, crimestoppers websites, and local newspapers.
Just like your case, the cops served their warrants after the defendants were already in jail.
The media practices selective reporting...ignore all of the good that our industry professionals do every day across the country, but crucify us whenever they smell blood.

Ruffin and Joey, I am aware that this happens all of the time. Myself and Rod Milstead caused the arrest of a child molester in Vietnam, who was brought back to Charles County, MD by the FBI, and they took credit for that one too, I believe the quote was an exhaustive, international investigation, hell they did not even cooperate and hindered the investigation because the female detective in charge did not want the victim to have to testify. When the newspaper was questioned, they said the information was provided by the Sheriff's department press officer...

This should not have come as a surprise, this also happens all the time at other levels of the criminal justice system. Public law enforcement agencies feel that they need to justify their existence, therefore they become media whores. In our industry media notoriety does not pay the bills in fact it only hurts a dying profession. We all know who really put in the work, and again a great job.
