BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a woman was taken to the hospital after getting shot by a bounty hunter while she was inside her home early Tuesday morning. Two men were arrested in the incident.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said Demarcus McKnight, 31, and Anthony Thomas, 24, will be charged.
Deputies said four men believed to be bounty hunters were at the house on Ridgewood Drive in Baton Rouge just before 4:45 a.m. to allegedly apprehend a fugitive.
They said Thomas and McKnight were at the back of the house, while the other two men were at the front.
Detectives think Thomas opened a cracked window and McKnight pointed a gun inside. When the woman walked to the window, a shot was fired and she was hit.
The unidentified victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from her wound.
The EBRSO said McKnight will be charged with unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling, aggravated battery and illegal use of a weapon.
Thomas will be charged with unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling.
They will both be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
The shooting remains under investigation.
