August, 1964... I had just gotten out of the 'service'... I can't remember the name of the storm but it hit Miami and I was living in Pompano Beach and a bunch of us boarded up a bar around Las Olas and A1A and rode out the storm listening to rock music (Rolling Stones and the Animals mostly) run by a generator and drinking a tremendous amount of beer and Early Times.... I think there were about 12 of us or so... as far as I can remember... we were stupid kids and the draw bridges were raised over the inland waterway so we couldn't get away if we had to.... the Elbo Room and the upstairs which at the time was Crazy Gregg's as I recall... the water came in the bottom floor over the sandbags and we went upstairs... it lasted only a day or so but it was really exciting... what a bunch of dumb kids, but at the time... we were only interested in having a good time... now I guess we know better.... the front of that bar is about 150 yds. from the ocean... so you know what we got...

I don't think my area will get much from this one... but the coast is gonna get hit pretty hard... keep Scott in your prayers... he lives pretty close to the coast...

Scott had better grabbed his furbabies, his wife and kids and vacated for "higher ground" . . . But I will still pray for all of you over there

all good here, now for the clean up. My son's garage had a wall blown out, split cinderblock in half. Checked in w/ Bill Marx and they all are ok.

No big deal here... of course I am about 125 miles west of VA Beach... they got it pretty bad... especially the rain and flooding. Power never went out at my house although the next street over and some on the other side of town and out in the country lost it.... one of my buddies called me at 9pm after he got home from work and said his power was out and could he spend the nite with me... 'why certainly'....

He showed up around 10pm... first thing he said when he came in.... "do you have anything to eat?".... why certainly... he got a plate of BBQ chicken, BE peas, stewed tomatoes, corn on the cob and tea.... I then put him up in one of the guest bedrooms, 4 poster queen size bed, he got a hot shower and access to computer and a nice flat screen TV... he got up this morning, I fixed him hot coffee, a fresh, homemade sausage biscuit (2)... which I cooked... and orange juice... he packed up and went home a few minutes ago..... I am such a nice guy....

I only charged him $25.... what are friends for??????????????????????????? He is also a former Marine... he shoulda' planned ahead................... 8) 8)

We're good... Never lost power but a few side streets, and our own, has leaves all over and 1 very large tree.... The bathtub is still full.. Bad thunderstorm last night that scared my poor Kelsey... She hid in the bedroom closet for 3 hours and refused to leave...
