Judgments here too.

The fines are over and above the forfeiture. If you have someone skip on a $500 bond, you ask the cosigner for $600.

Interesting. Cannot charge above the face value of the bond here.

Our contract allows us to sue for additional costs incurred.

Ron,

Your employer has asked me to recover a ton of skips. One had been on the run for approximately two years. I located, apprehended and took him to jail. This was done several months ago and your employer is still trying to get their 10 grand remitted. Another was chased across state lines and was located at his grandmother's home. We got into a foot chase after I turned him loose to defend myself from his Father.

While fleeing,he injured his ankle and broke into a house to hide As I was preparing to apprehend him, the SC cops rolled up and arrested him. ((I was trying to get him back to NC).He is now doing 7 years in the South Carolina Dept. of Corrections for the charge he caught while running from me. Your employer is filing a motion to remit and it's not looking good.

I'm gonna check out your state laws and if it is as easy as you say to have a Bond Forfeiture remitted maybe we all should set up shop there, cause it is a nightmare in most states when trying to get remittance.

Bill, I can put you in contact with the lawyer that does our motions and she can give you the info.

We had one recently in which the court reinstated the bond but did not discharge it. Sometimes they reinstate and discharge the bond. But in almost every case you need to have an attorney file a motion to have it reinstated.

Your employer's in house Counsel has filed the motions. I only file motions my company is responsible for.

Luvonda, it looks as if your state Bail laws and mine are very similar.

I have always documented everything when working a case, weather it be bail enforcement or an investigation. Ive never had to appear in court over a bail enforcement case, but as an investigator it has always helped. Most lawyers that you go up against can't try to make you account for something you did a long time ago it your notes are detailed.
