Help with new Uniform

Tan or Brown Cargo Pants (Jeans, at times), 5.11 boots (just because they are comfortable and provide ankle support; not because of the tactical use), and collarless three button shirts. No equipment, some equipment, and all equipment; depends on the situation. Badges....have some; not usually used or exposed. The two most useful pieces of equipment we can have: Accurate and complete paperwork and our minds. I have heard that surf shorts and sandals have been use with great efficiency by some but I bet they had the paperwork and mindframe for the job.

Uniforms are for law enforcement officers, I concur with Scott M. as to dress. You always want to look professional. If a time comes that you need to use tactical gear and uniforms, then its time to call in law enforcement. The most important thing that this type of work has in common with law enforcement is that we go home at the end of the day alive.

I guess it kind of depends on where you are. I think we have discussed this before? If your in the office or going to be in court, nothing wrong with dockers and nice jacket. However, I live and mainly work, in a rural area. If you want to get anywhere with most of these folks, you dont want to come off as being above them. Dressing and talking like them will get you much further.

I would probably dress different if I were in a city.

All I, my wife, my boys, and my employees wear is jeans, t-shirt and tennis shoes into the courts to post bonds. If it's snowing, I will wear my boots. That's it, period. We all wear the same thing when it comes to chasing our skips or anyone elses.

Why get dress up to go in to post a bond and only be a second in the courts. Piss on with other bail bondsmen think...... I'm not there to look good, I'm there to make money.....

My wife already tells me everyday that I look HOT.....

This is my uniform... sort of a cross between Jackie Gleason, Oral Roberts and Rob Reiner ("Meathead in "All in the family")
Complete with my one of a kind.................... "Tactical sandals and extra large "Depends shorts".
Notice my official bail bondsman's badge... I do have my 'bail piece' in the right front pocket in case I am asked by the LE for my warrant.

I know, I know.... sort of crazy, but then it works for me....

I also have a very nice suit that I can wear if I absolutely have to.... I can be very professional if need be.... but frankly, I like it like this........

I wear what I wear because I change the the look by adding or removing a sport coat, can appear to be carrying when I may not be, and I get much more respect from LE when we interact. As far as my appearance when posting bonds...it means that my cultured "Brand" is that of professionalism. I hear negative comments about my competition, and I do not comment. The bottom line is that it works for me and meets all of the goals I established for this business. That does not make it right or wrong, better or worse than anyone else. It is all about what works for you.

On the sophisticated "West Coast" specifically California, dressing in suit and tie while doing business in the courts and jails, gets you professional, expedited service. It also distinguishes you from the criminals.

You can also pick up new clients, as most people are curious to know who you are.

When working skips, dress what works in your particular area. But be able to identify yourself very quickly if the need arises.

Bill, do those tactical sandles come in a size 10 1/2 with a Doctors Scholls insole for flat feet?

... absolutely, I do hope that the rank and file on this site do know that much of the time I am just pulling the many chains that hang down here... I also have my sport coats and button down shirts and all the "professional" looking items that I do frankly, normally wear.... all this clown stuff is just that............ laughs only.... as for that particular picture above... I happen to have been out with some friends when I got a call from one of my LE buddies in Carolina who had taken one of my skips into custody and held him for me till I could get there... frankly, I ordinarily would have been dressed... shall we say... a bit less relaxed....



This is just so some of you have a slightly better picture of me... however, I will say that most of the time I am in shorts, sandals and a sport shirt with a short glass with ice and a cool beverage. Gail makes me dress like this on Sundays...

One last comment... I am not related to Marshall.
