Hello all, my name is Steve. I have been registered for some time now and read almost all of the threads, and now it is time for my first few questions. I am an aspiring Bondsman in Cleveland, Ohio. I plan to get my license this summer then work for a bail company for a year or two then start something of my own. 8)

Just a few quick questions

I've heard that Bondsmen cannot call themselves Fugitive Recovery Agents, is this true ? What can they be called then, and how can their company name include "Fugitive Recovery Agency" ?

What insurancee do you have, like liability or any other types ? Just incase the fugitive is hurt while being to apprehended

Also, is Bail Yes ( http://bailyes.com/ ) a good quality company ? The website says "Choose from fully liable contracts to joint partnership and no liable contracts with BUF accounts that you the agent manages." What would you recommend to a new bondsman ?

Thanks Alot

In the State of Ohio you cannot use any words as Fugitive, Bail Enforcement, or Bounty Hunter.

Once you get your license, you will be a Surety Bail Bonds Agent, also known as a Officer of the Court. That's what our title is. When you go to a house to pick up your forfeiture, you notify the police department that your at address where your forfeiture is, then knock on the door an say " Bail Bond Agent or Officer of the Court". That's it, nothing eles.

I don't know to much about this company, But I do have a link with them. When you get your license, check around with ALL bail bond company's to see what they offer. Don't just jump into the first company. Explore a little bit with every company. Also would say to work with a company for about two years before you get on your own. I see alot of people get into this business and fail within six months on their own. It takes time.....

My buddy Joe owns Bail Yes and he has called me many times for bonds in CT and the areas that we cover. He is very reputable...
