I'm about to take a PI pre licensing class; does a PI license allow you to work in the Bail Bond business? Or does it make it easier to get into the business? What are the similarities between the two fields.

I'm in Georgia and thanks for welcoming me to this site. I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I start some formal training. I've read a few books about fugitive recovery one by Rex Venator. My interest is in Private security and Private Investigation. I'm already licensed in the state of Georgia to carry a firearm; from what I understand I can use this Firearm license for Fugitive Recovery, but not Private Investigations am I correct.

Yep, Our 680 (of 2008) agents seems to be growing by leaps and bounds. I am sure we have more than 700, now, and the majority are probably in the metro area.

Prior to licensing there were literally thousands... and you could be a convicted felon and a bondsman before DCJS. When licensing for BEA began... the number immediately dropped to below 25. I am not sure but I think the number now is around 300 in state... that is according to a member of DCJS within the last couple of months. I believe the drop in our business is directly attributable to an influx of new members in both BEA and BB and also the current environment within the court system and the 'court services' system.... much reduced bonds or PR with court services activity... I would think that having a PI license would certainly enhance both BB and BEA activity... I am considering getting my PI license if for no other reason that GP... besides I like staying up all nite watching bad women sneak in and out of motel rooms...
