Bill,Have you ever tried the OTIS cleaning kits? They make some nice kits! I've been cleaning my rifles and shotguns for years with Hoppes. I also use a product called "Sheath" by Birchwood Casey. I can hunt in the rain, come home, wipe down my gun with Sheath, and not have to worry about rust. It lubricates, penetrates, and displaces moisture. I love the stuff!
I will give it a try... got to go to Richmond this afternoon... will stop by one of my shops and check it out... thanks again... I also want to pull all the wood stocks off my M1Garand and M1 Carbine and redo them... I think I can just do that like regular furniture refinishing... that shouldn't have any effect on the value and besides the wood is pretty messed up and could use a good refinishing.... probably sand it lightly.. little 000 steel wool or whatever is real light.... put a real nice finish.... at least I know how to break down these two weapons cause ya never forget that stuff.... good ole USMC back in the day..... I don't want to age myself here but I was issued a Garand after PI and ITR.... in fact... the Corps didn't get M-14's until late '64... as far as I can recall.... then M-16's later in Nam.... but I was long gone by then.... thank God... they wanted me to reup... but I was more interested in chasin' little Sally "RC" than Charlie...
I guess that may have saved my life.................
