I got a phone call from a friend of mind in Michigan asking me if I heard about a new law there. I ask what new law, and he said that he ran across a web site that stated the following:

YOU HAVE TO BE A LICENSED AND APPOINTED BONDSMAN ON THE APPROVED LIST TO BOUNTY HUNT IN MICHIGAN !!!

AS YOU CAN SEE BELOW. 167b

750.167b Bondsman in criminal cases; procurement of attorney; maximum charge for bond; dismissal of charge; list of bondsmen; posting; compilation; record; violation; penalty.

A typewritten or printed list, alphabetically arranged, of all persons engaged in the business of becoming surety upon bonds for compensation in criminal cases within the county shall be posted in a conspicuous place in each police precinct, jail, prisoner's dock and house of detention and in every other place in which persons in custody of the law are detained, and 1 or more copies thereof shall be kept on hand. The list shall be compiled annually by the judges of the circuit court of each circuit, and the names of persons engaged in the business of becoming surety upon bonds for compensation shall be added to the list by the judges upon proper application. When any person who is detained in custody in any such place of detention requests any person in charge thereof to furnish him the name of a bondsman, or to put him in communication with a bondsman, the list shall be furnished to the person so requesting, without recommendation, and the person in charge of the place of detention within a reasonable time shall put the person detained in communication with the bondsman selected and, contemporaneously with the transaction, make in the blotter or book of record kept in any place of detention a record showing the name of the person requesting the bondsman, the offense with which the person is charged, the time at which the request was made, the bondsman requested, and the person by whom the bondsman was called, and preserve the same as a permanent record in the book or blotter in which entered.

Now, as far as I know or Knew there isn't any laws in Michigan about be licensen to do Bounty Hunting or Recovery work I should say.
I also contacted a friend of mind who has a Bail Bonds company in Roseville, Michigan and I ask him about this new law. An he said that the info that was given to me is not correct. He also stated that there is no license requirements to Bounty Hunt or do recoveries in that state.

There is such a list here in AR. It is now monitired by the Bail Bond Board out of Little Rock.
It was monitored by the Clerks in each county and was listed in the order that the Bail Bond Company was lic. and registered in each County. So in one county one could be # 1 yet in the next county # 2 or 3 . . . the key is licensed and registered. The list cannot be changed unless of course a company is no longer is biz and then it simply falls off the list. The list is posted in a conspicuous area so that those entering the jail can view it . . . it is a class A misdemeanor here for a jailer to reccommend a bondsperson . . .
The LIST is always a sore subject with some . . . some just cannot understand that if you are # 1 or 2 or 3 on the list you are going to get the calls . . . the further down the list the less likely to get the call . . . UNLESS of course they have already been turned down by the others.

EDITED: The LIST is of LIC BailBondsmen only
The only requirements at this date for the recovery end are

Must Be:
A) Lic Bail Bondsman
B) Lic PI
C) LEO

I have tried to stay up on the laws here in Michigan and as far as I know there is no such law here. I was just researching some of the laws last week and did not come across anything stating that you had to be a bondsman to bounty hunt
