JONESBORO, AR - Federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Marshals Service were joined by local authorities with the 2nd Judicial District's Drug Task Force today in making several arrests in Jonesboro and Craighead County, related to the trafficking of cocaine, heroin and other illegal narcotics.
The suspects include...
-Demetrius Rufus, 35, of Jonesboro.
-Milton Jarmon, 50, of Fort Worth, Texas.
-Nicholas Davis, 24, of Jonesboro.
-Reginald Akins, 28, of Jonesboro.
-Leo Brinkley, 31, of Jonesboro.
-Catrina Rufus, 27, of Jonesboro.
-Charles Sweat, 42, of Jonesboro.
-Denise Thomas, 42, of Jonesboro.
-Derrick Poole, 23, of Jonesboro.
-Christopher Hutson, 24, of Jonesboro.
One of the suspects, Thomas, works locally in the bail bonding business.
Further arrests are anticipated. In addition, Rufus is charged in a four-count indictment with possession of $122,600 in counterfeit currency.
"This large-scale investigation demonstrates the effectiveness of law enforcement when federal, state, and local agencies work together to stop the distribution of life destroying drugs," U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin said.
The U.S. Secret Service assisted in the investigation, as did the Craighead County Sheriff's Department, Jonesboro Police Department and Arkansas State Police.
