Mr. Smith being as you are a resident of AZ. you should just look at your State Statutes - get the answer from the horse's mouth so to speak
That way you are very informed or as much as you can about WHAT you can and cannot do.

Greetings Mike. The short answer is no. You can't run red or blue lights at all. "Other than emergency lights." You can use flasher's" non red/blue" if your stoped." Doing traffic control for example." Also lights can't be mounted on roof. They must be able to be removed.

I would suggest head lights from dusk through complete darkness. I would use turn signals when turning. If you break down and have to walk, use a flashlight.

Law enfrcement agencies hire all of the time, you should check them out.

Since when does "traffic control" fall under the role of a BEA? I guess the laws are different in AZ?

The key to successful BE is to BLEND IN...not to stick out and run the line between LEGAL and illegal. If you want to be respected and accepted by LE (with whom you should desire a close relationship with) you don't need them debating wheteher or not to take YOU to jail! I mean WHY would you ever need lights? If you try to pull over someone (even if they have an active warrant) you have just broken the law and are subject to the penalties of that state.

If you feel you absolutely MUST have lights on your vehicle to satisfy that desire in your heart...go to the Police Academy, get a Peace Officers License and become a cop...not a BEA.

I think you misunderstood what Mark was saying. I think what Mark is alluding to is the use of hazard lights (4 ways) in the event of a vehicle breakdown to warn traffic of a disabled vehicle; To guide traffic around the disabled vehicle.

Mark doesn't state his posts too clearly sometimes. Sometimes I have to read them multiple times over a period of days before I get a sense of what it is he is trying to say.

I never had any incedent making an arrest with my bullet proof vest on and badge showing.
They see that and they know your for real.Not all cities are the same so different cities, Different tactics, Yes you can use lights on your car, But they can only be amber or white, I have white strobe lights in my turn signals just like in a squad car.

My initial reaction to this question was that it didn't deserve any intelligent response...I thought it was a joke at first. Since then it has been pointed out to me, that there really are wanna be BEA's out here that are this STUPID !

In most states, the useage/displaying of lights are governed by law. They vary from state to state.

In some of the NE states volunteer Fire fighters/rescue personnel can have roof mounted red/blue bar lights. But when they leave thier jurisdictions, those lights have to be covered or removed.

In Alabama and surrounding states the following colours are regulated:

White, Red, Blue, Amber (yellow), and Green. You must be duly authorized, issued, or licensed to openly display these kinds of lights as non-factory equipment.

Additionally, mounting your vehicle with lights can get you charged with impersonation of a law enf. officer.

Again, your question begs so many others....why would you do this ? It's a rhetorical question.
