PBUS?

Differences of opinion are necessary to make sure that all sides, ideas and possible outcomes are explored. We may not always agree on how to get to a goal down the road but, as long as we agree on where we want to be, the final result, that is the most important thing.

Now that being said, as long as we do not compromise our integrity, honesty or do anything illegal.

Trust me, I had to hold my nose quite a bit to avoid the smell when certain people walked by our table. And I am talking about more than just those 2.

I was watching TV last night and the promo for the Chapmans' new show came on. All I can say is what the hell. Seriously? They are absolute morons. One person who appeared on the show was a prior Professional Bondsman Of Texas board member who was so far up their arse there should have been a R rating on the preview. So now I will not renew with PBT either, well I wasn't going to anyway but now.....

PBT and PBUS are just out of control. They have sold out. I, Charlie Deckert, a virtual nobody, have gotten more done legislatively here in Texas on my own than PBT without all the resources and lobby they have. And trust me I aint nothing special. They constantly are telling their members they can do certain things that are illegal, they have speakers at their conventions who I have personally turned in for breaking the law and those same people are the organizations so called experts. Its just pathetic good ole boy we are superior to everyone mentality.

Why does PBUS have 27 board members? Seriously 27? Why not just make everyone who joins a Director?

Charlie... I also, am a nobody, but the thing is.... you can do a lot when you go at it without all the lip service and dancing that usually runs along beside the ones that often move in these circles.

These games get played by so many in this and other businesses... that is, I suppose, the way of the world.

One of the main reasons that anything significant has such a difficult time getting done... in Washington and in so many connected government agencies and departments... is simply that everyone is dancing to music that is being played by their buddies.... to words of the day I fear are 'bureaucracy and apathy' and the special interest groups work their own agendas that often have little to do with main stream.

... another thing that I see.... sometimes, those in power, or sitting on the high hill... become convinced that how they are doing something is the "only and right way"... they have over time... convinced themselves that they are right and all others are wrong.... even if the law or the code says different. I sometimes will print out the state code and hand it to the judge and have had them look at me and smile and say.... "Mr. Marx, that is open to interpretation".... I run into this quite often as do we all.

Also, many of the members of these groups do not have a clue... and have risen to their level of incompetence by smiling and agreeing with those that like to be stroked.... the famous "Peter Principle"

... and I think another even more important line that defines why these affiliations take place.... is that they are all.... "feathering their nests".


But, again, being a nobody... I can't change a thing... and I have decided that at my age... I am only going to worry about things that I can change... which ain't much and is probably limited to my socks...

I am far from being the most politically astute person in regards to bail and many other important issues. I may also not look at something from all sides.

However, in most clear or obvious situations such as having the dog and his group be the face of the bail bond profession, I can without any hesitation counter those that think otherwise.

PBUS had been on the decline for years. Same with some state bail associations. There were many on the PBUS board that did not want doggie and his group at the conferences.

Others thought that PBUS could make money off their popularity and attract new members. And they did make more money, but they did not grow the membership.

I guess there is some perceived image of grandeur bestowed upon people with titles such as president, CEO, blank in Charge, Chief of this, etc.

So being a board member of a group could be make one feel more self important than they actually are. Especially if the group or association doesn't actually do any thing worthwhile.

I wish PBUS would be a major positive influence in the bail profession. I wish they would take their name seriously and make sure that their members are all "professionals." I wish they would know the difference between "celebrity" and "substance," and "integrity" and "self promotion."
