If the article is correct, it went to his personal account. Had it gone back to the county, I doubt it would be an issue.
As I previously stated, I see any law that allows an individual to profit from government funds (other than their paycheck) as an opportunity to abuse those funds. What the sheriff did apparently bordered on right or wrong, but I could see lawsuits being filed even if he had fed the inmates better, but still profitted on state funds. To me, that is just wrong!
