Today I learned of the passing of Mel Barth, who was the Executive Director of the National Association of Bail Enforcement Agents (NABEA) of Falls Church, VA. No details have been released and no services were held.
For those who knew Mel, he was a character to be sure, and a polarizing individual in the bail community. Mel had a storied career and was a well spoken advocate of the fugitive recovery profession.
Mel will be missed.

Mel was an asset to the industry, I feel privileged to have known him and I'm grateful for his many contributions to the profession, he will be truly missed. He lost his battle with cancer last month and I spoke with his wife Ann to offer my condolences.
