I know the media is constantly issuing reminders about this topic, but I wanted to re-address it here anyway.

Following is just a few suggestions of which you may wish to consider:

1) Stay hydrated with water. Keep water with you at all times. You never know when your vehicle may break down, a traffic accident may occur or some other circumstance strands you indefinitely on a roadway somewhere.

2) Keep your vehicle up to date with regular maintenance. Do a complete radiator flush, fill; Check all belts and hoses. Extreme heat from both the weather and the engine can really stress an engine to the point of breaking down. Pay particular attention to head gaskets.

3) Fuel at night. Fueling during daytime hours is wasteful as you lose a certain percentage of your fuel to immediate evaporation. You pay for fuel you don't get.

4) Know the signs of heat related symptoms: Heat stroke and heat exhaustion. If you stop sweating in 100 degree heat, you may be in trouble already. You should also carry some instant cold compresses in your vehicles' 1st aid kit.

5) Try to work in early mornings, late evenings, or late at night to avoid the worst of the heat.

6) Try to wear porus, "breathable", lightweight, neutral coloured clothing. Carry tennis shoes in your vehicle in case you have to walk to get help.

As always, these are just suggestions from multiple sources. Others may add more as they see fit.

Take care and God Bless.

Howdy!
Great advice is worth repeating. Thanks for the reminder.
We've had a record number of 90 degree days in our area, and many over 100.
I think I got a touch of heat exhaustion myself, but recognized the issue and took care of myself.

Heat ain't a joke. Every year a whole lot of people die from it.

The only suggestion I'd add to the mix is when the heat gets to be a bit much, maybe sit in a cool tub of water to help lower core body temperature. Once it's down to a more comfortable level, you can stay cooler long after a good cool soak.

Blessings,
Mel

Left San Jose today 96 deg. Got over to Halfmoon Bay 61 deg all week. So if anyone is hot and wants to come down and have a Birthday beer tomarrow and be cold. Come on down.
