It would be nice if this type of act got some publicity from the media. All too often only the negative get reported. I hope you guys get some well deserved positive feedback from the media. Well done.

The article didn't make the online version but it is in today's (2/4/06)Union Leader in Manchester, NH on page two...

ACCUSED ROBBER HAD NO CHANCE AFTER SEVEN MEN STEP IN TO HELP

by Mark Hayward
Union Leader Staff

MANCHESTER- When the co-owner of a mom-and-pop convenience store saw a robber pointing a shotgun at mom yesterday afternoon, he jumped on the man's back and started fighting with him, police said.

A regular customer of the Orange Street Market jumped in to help, and within seconds police and a few bounty hunters who were staking out a nearby address arrived, police said.

Patrick Shiner, 22, of 44 Brown Road, Deerfield, was subdued and later charged with armed robbery, a Class A felony. Police said further charges are possible.

The incident unfolded just after 3:30pm, police said.

Maati Kenzou, 53, said he was parking his car and getting his 4-year-old son out when he looked in the store and saw a man pointing a gun at his wife, Zohza Kensou, 51.

"I jumped on him," Kensou said. He said he didn't even think of handing over the money.

"How would that look?" he said. "Somebody takes my money, they can kill me."

Police said two officers- Capt. Jim Winn and Detective Ryan Grant- were on Orange Street, taking part in a "high visibility, high intensity" detail targeting problem areas of the city.

They answered the holdup alarm at the market near Union Street and found Kenzou and a regular customer had already restrained the robber, police said.

Meanwhile, Hadley Dorfman, a licensed New Hampshire bounty hunter, was in the area with two associates, trying to find a man who had jumped bail. They saw the commotion and ran to help.

Dorfman said one of the men grabbed the loaded 12-guage shotgun and secured it. They threw the robber on top of a parked car and subdued him as police arrived, Dorfman said.

"He was struggling with everybody," Dorfman said. But the robber wasn't going anywhere, given the 300-pound frame of Dorfman and similar size of his co-workers.

"There was literally tonnage around the guy," Dorfman said.

Manchester police sergeant James Soucy said police reports indicate the presence of the agents for bail bondsmen.

"It sounds like everyone showed up at once," he said.

Kenzou said hes owned the Orange Street Market, which specializes in Middle Eastern food, for six years. Kids have come in and run out with 30-packs of beer, but the store has never been robbed, he said.
