Mike and Tony can appreciate this....
Yeah, apparently I am a traffic offender. While living in CT, I got a speeding ticket..back in 2008.. Plead guilty to a lesser charge, pay the fine, thought I was done. So after I get my CA drivers license, I see my car insurance went up, not much, only $31 and change.. DUE TO A PRIOR CONVICTION...I called my insurance company and explained I have never in my life been in jail, let alone arrested. They explained its standard wording and if I ever got a speeding ticket. I said yeah, years ago. It never affected me in CT but here they do a 3 year look back. For me it only affected my premium until March, but it took all this time to show, after the court told me it wouldn't go on my record if I paid the fine...my rates never went up until I moved...good thing they never found about those college parking tickets.....

LuVonda,
Most, and I am speaking generally here, moving violations are classified as misdemeanors here. Speeding, not wearing seat belt, no proof of insurance (huge issue here), etc. Basically here, when you receive a ticket it is a legal arrest and you are released on your own recognizance until your court date. Then if you fta and fail to pay the fines and court costs, they typically will issue 2 warrants for your arrest: 1) FTA 2)FTP-yes they will put you in jail for not paying court ordered bills.
Furthermore, if you get arrested on a traffic citation, such as no insurance, you can bail out. However, if you fta on that case, typically the courts will double the bond amount as well as change it to a cash only bond.
As an example, a couple of years ago I had a skip case from a client whose only charge was originally a $10 seat belt fine (wasn't wearing his). The kid fta'd. Warrants were issued, got arrested, bonded out, fta'd again. He kept repeating this process until his bond amount finally reached $1200.00 cash only. Completely stupid.
I found him at his gf's house and took him in. No issue, no fuss. Basically a good kid, had a full time job, just a regular joe. When I asked him about his case, he simply replied that he didn't agree with government's right to dictate to people regarding seat belts and this was his way of protesting.
Go figure.

works the same way here Ruffin . . . Only they do not turn into Misdemeanors just because they fta or ftp . . . they remain Traffic Offenses which can and does affect ones' Auto Insurance.
DWI is classed as a Violation of the Omnibus Act and appears as a Traffic Violation when ones' Crim History is run . . . But then, this is Arkansas.

If you ever apply for a local job here, most applications ask the standard questions regarding criminal pasts. They used to read: You may skip traffic offenses when answering misdemeanor convictions. Now, most job applications read: Have ever been convicted of a Felony....
You cannot drive in our state for any length of time and not get a ticket for something along the way. From where I live to Huntsville is only app. 30 miles by interstate. But in that stretch I pass through no less than 7 leo jurisdictions. Sooner or later the odds catch up to you.
