With holiday season approaching, family gathering at mother’s house for the dinner, football, and fellowship would this not be a good time for fugitive round-ups.

Therefore I was wondering how many of us plan for this type of activity in advance i.e., a review of cases for your most hard to locate fugitives, joining forces with other recovery agents for the common goal of apprehending these fugitives, a review of fugitive transportation issues, and coordination with your local jails and law enforcement agencies….

It would seem that this may be the best time to catch them off guard.

Unfortunately, for their families that these fugitives may cause some disruption in the holiday celebrations. However, if they had just done as they were suppose to, they wouldn't be causing a holiday fiasco!

You're on the short list, Phil. But, no, I don't have any open cases at the moment so, consequently, no holiday roundup as of yet.

I actually got a guy a few years back at moms house on Thanksgiving. Drove up saw his car at the moms. Called him on his cell explained his options. He came out we went back in the house togther with me being a co worker. Had a nice dinner with his family then off to work/jail we went. He was a decent guy low risk and small bond. his family was so nice I almost felt guilty lying but hey it worked. Sorry if the spelling and grammer is poor suttung on a lovely stakeout.

Hey Folks
Just a question about the holidays, and recovery work; and maybe something to watch out for.
I ran into this working corrections, and I understand that situations are always different. Offenders, violaters, and skips alike all seem to go threw the holiday stress like the rest of us. Do any of you see any changes in the desperation of these individuals durring the holidays? Or when you go to pick up a skip, and hes with his family (thier desperation) that could cause a potential threat to you, or your teams safety. Don't feel bad about lying to avoid a potentialy hazzardous situation whith your skip cause it worked. But always have a back up plan or an escape for you so you live to fight again another day. What kind of other suggestions could you give for handeling this type of operation this time of year?

Aaron,
We have taken them into custody in Church, at funerals as pall bearers, at weddings with a congrats hand shake ;) and from Thanksgiving dinner tables as well as a myriad of other family functions. They are always dangerous and a "Low Impact" approach has worked best for me.

In past years I've done holiday round-ups with great success. However, this year, due to the economy, reduction in commercial posted bonds (no thanks to jail pre-trial release initiatives), and other factors, I wont be doing a round up this year. I will however use the opportunity to serve papers on people who to date have been elusive and difficult to effect service upon.

Scoot,
Thats good advice low impact has a lot of advantages. Especialy in some of those environments where emotions can sometimes run high. I like to equate that approachto to common sence. Noone needs a wanna be super cop in those kind of situations.
Thank you.
Aaron
