Good morning Ladies & Gentlemen:
I was curious to know if any of you could give a time frame from sending the necessary paperwork, etc. to the Dept. of Insurance to the time one might see their license. Please consider that my prints and info have been in the hands of the Feds for many years without anything (crimes!) happening in between. I noticed a big change right after 9/11, but not much with the new administration.
Any thoughts or info is appreciated.

My opinion is possibly 6 mos. or longer. Background investigators\agencies are backlogged, understaffed, and overworked. perhaps making a financial contribution to the politician in charge might expedite your process.

It has been my experience that when dealing with gov. agencies and the normal workers that frequent those offices... do not get in any hurry... unfortunately, papers have a tendency to lie on desks for days if not weeks... I had a clerk in DCJS tell me one time... "oh, here it is... must have been under the phone"... ????!!!!! imagine that?!
I filed for my renewal bond license (every 2 years) in May... renewal date was July30.... I got my license Friday, July 29th. The date on the paperwork was May 31... it sat in a file for 2 months before someone decided to mail it.
I may mention that just because your info is on file in one agency does not mean that it is available in another.... cross reference often does not exist... (at least on our level)
Welcome to the bureaucratic business of government... as I have mentioned on here often... I am told by judges and clerks alike on a regular basis.... "Welcome to the bond business Mr. Marx.... get used to it..."

Thank you for such an honest and quick response. I was one of the youngest Pages on Capital Hill; let's just say we were just getting out of Viet Nam, if there was a need to 'age' me! The cogs that turn the wheels date back when Hoover had office. Wasn't holding my breath...

For AZ, if you apply for your BEA/FRA registration only and you brought the paperwork, fingerprint card, picture of yourself and fee into the office in Phoenix, you would have received your registration stamped and back to you the same day. It's often a 15-20 min wait.
If you're referring to Bail Bondsman licensure, my experience is following the passing of the test and processing of the fee, it takes anywhere from 30-60 days. I've heard cases of folks getting their Bail Bonds license sooner, and some longer.

I'm solely going for my FRA license, which I sent application, print card and photos into the AZ Dept. of Insurance. I do know that the AZ FBI confers prints with AZ DPS, so I was hoping that would push it over some clerks desk a little faster, but again, we are talking a gov't entity!
I'm not in any 'rush' to try and utilize it. I'm getting enough work thru my PI agency to keep the lights on, plus the GPS distributorship. Can't complain, but thank you for your input!

OH! P.S. I know I'm showing my ignorance, but could someone tell me how I can make a signature line so I don't have to keep writing my info?

If you sent it in already and haven't heard anything back, then you're good for BEA/FRA work. The biggest thing is the ADOI wants a roster of anyone who is participating in Bail Recovery in the state. They do have DPS do background checks afterwards and they report back to the ADOI if they find anything. One thing I would recommend, though, is while conducting any BEA/FRA work you must have a record of your enrollment with the ADOI on your person and ready to present to PD at any time. So if they didn't send you back your copy I would stop by the office (if you can) and ask them for a copy you can take with you. I keep mine in my wallet with my badge, CCW and a photo ID card (you don't get issued one here, nor do you even get a serial # or sequence #). Having the photo ID isn't required, but it sure helps when officials want to see a picture ID, such as court (walked in with cuff keys once...THAT was interesting), and the ID has my picture, description, and expiration date (that matches the 3yr expiration for AZ BEA). Having the paperwork is required, though.

I've been working on reports most of the week, which entails voice recordings from my guys, flipping thru files, etc., and between you me and the fence post, my guys couldn't put a proper sentence together if a gun was at their head! Point being, I failed to notice you're here in AZ! Thanks for all the encouragement!
By the way, do you know anything about Sabre Investigations?

My pleasure, if you ever need anything just send me an email, that seems to work best for me. Haven't heard of Sabre Investigations, so I can't be of any help there, sorry. I've worked with a few PIs in AZ, I communicate regularly with one in CA and a Human Trafficking specialist in Texas, but never heard of Sabre.
