We use a GPS sending unit that is vehicle mounted and fed into a laptop using MS Streets and Trips 2005. It continually plots your current location as well as gives you information regarding your destination and surrounding accomodations etc. We have used it all over the country with great success. Maps ? I don't think I even remember how to read one! :D

I use an Garmin Etrax with a data cable for ms streets. That way I can use it without the laptop for situations where I do not really need to have the laptop on.

We use a Magellan Roadmate 760 which has made our life much easier since purchasing it on e-bay at a very reasonable price. Still carry the roadmaps though, backup is always important even if not essential.

We used a GPS system while on a recent case in Vermont. We were able to go to four towns and directly to each address without a problem. I am a firm believer in using GPS.

The system we use is a dell laptop with delorme streets and gps - not only does it give location we can keep a record of mileage - stops and start times and routing- true mph plus more great for those expense reports--also helps to locate fuel and lodging plus has a database of commercial phone numbers and almost all goverment services both local and federal
