WANT TO BECOME A BEA OR OPEN A BEA AGENCY ??????????????????

It seems like most of my email lately are from people who want be a bea or want to open a bea agency.Most of these people have no clue what this calling is all about.So let's start off with--it is a very dangerous business-you could wind up dead or stuck in a bed the rest of your life with tubes coming out of every hole you have plus more--nice picture right!!!!!
How about getting arrested for multiple crimes when all you did was your job(and the skip is out before you) how about your wife and kids visiting you in state prison because you shot and killed some a-shole skip that was trying to kill you-and while your rotting in prison(all the inmates find out you were a bea and your life is worth sh-t)some a-shole lawyer sues you and gets a judgement against you so they take your car your house and everything else you own.FEELING GOOD YET!!!Now how about you work your nuts off to find a skip for a bondsmen from out of state and he gives you a bad check-just try to collect--or maybe you and your wife or girlfriend are shopping and some a-shole skip you popped spots your brand new car in the parking lot decides it looks better with curse words keyed into the paint and by the way your insurance was cancelled because you bounced a check on the insurance company because the out of state bondsmen gave you a bad check for what you thought was a great gift from the bea god and you could finally pay all your bills.The bea god is not that generous.lets not forget that 14000.00 per year you pay for insurance.BUT IT'S YOUR BUSINESS.Vacation really no way nobody can run your business like you can!!!!One day you sit down and watch a&e tv and see a piece of ca-ca named doggie making millions and damn right your jealous--not of the du-du but the money he makes for popping brain dead meth heads on an island while you travel the country looking for murders rapists kidnappers and other assorted pieces of crap.
How about all the time spent all year long at the shooting range sure you love shoot but I kind of not enjoy frostbite when shooting in a nh winter
how about all the time keeping up with all the changes in states laws
and it goes on and on and on--if you do not have leo or pi or military experiance forget this this calling its not for the tv fan this is real life and death not just yours or your family but many people--forget all the bull you will not get rich you will not get famous you will only get old and tired and maybe dead or worse

That was the best post that I have seen in a long time. I feel the same way.

I would like to add one, how about all the " learn at home bounty hunter courses". SCARY!!!!

anyways, with your permission I would like to use your post when people ask me about the business.

You are definatley a person who tells it like it is. You do not care about PC which now a days is a great quality. As someone who is interested in the field your words definatley are something for me to consider however, I will continue to read about the field and get a greater knowledge of the business even if I deceide it is not something for me I am still very intrigued with the business.

I want to comment on what you said back in December 10th 2005. Let me tell you something!!! The people that took the online course to become a BEA knows just as much as you do or maybe even more then you. Atleast when I go out to get my fugitive I am safe an I make sure my agents are safe, But when you got a want to be cowboy who you take out with you and your agents. an your agents came up to you an say there scared of being killed or one of there other agents of being killed cause of one agent wants to be a cowboy because he thinks he's good because he took a $500.00 BEA 3 day training course that he knows everything to catch a fugitive. well let me say this to you NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTT. Because from what I read about some of these 3 day course They either take your money an show you a couple of things that don't mean crap in the field or they don't show you CCRRAAPP!! The course on line teach you things of what you know in the field or how to catch your fugitive the RIGHT WAY!! So before you go an say things you don't know about (online courses) Wait I forgot you do know about online courses. you ordered one http://www.BeABountyHunter.com.

I know that there are alot of people who watched that show and think "hey I can do that!" I know you are agitated by this, who isn't.

I'm still pretty new to all this, but in the end, isn't it about keeping the low-lifes in line when the police can't? Isn't that what this job is really all about? Yeah there's a chance you can end up in jail, or dead, but I would think that if I got one more killer from getting away with what he did, because he skipped out, and making it so he has to serve his time, dosen't it make it worth it?

And as for the taking the course vs. experience, a course I'm sure is nice to learn basics, and rules & all that, but no matter how many classes you take, until you experience it, I beleive you won't really know what it is like.
Anyway, that's my opinion, please don't take offense to it.

online courses are like anything else some good some bad--Scott Harrell had a very good online course and I recommend it --there are many in attendance courses that are good and there are many that plain old suck-we have spoken about them many times in the past--The main thing to remember is no 2, 3, 4, day or 1 month or online course can prepare you to hunt effectively-it can give you good solid info it can show you the right way-but remember most police academeys are between 6 and 12 weeks long plus most pds have you with a field training officer from 4 weeks to one year for field training--and in my opinion we have more to learn than alot of police because we tend to work multi jurisdictions there for we need to know more about the law and policies and procedures.
also as with anything else you get what you put in-if your lazy no matter how good the course you lose-if you do the work and listen you learn.

this is why i believe that mentoring or aprenticing is so important-the mentor puts all the book learning in balence--for example i can teach tactical room entry from a book in about three days and cover all important info--that is just book info but to get it right i could spend a week in practical drills doing entries and room clearing before all info is understood and done the correct way-than the problem comes if you do not practice you tend to loose you skills and become sloppy and complacent and all the training goes down the drain--so what i am trying to get across is all trining has something to offer but it is up to the person to make the most of the training

I teach the amherst acdemy of bail enforcement course with LAW and i say it is a very good course-but it is 2 days in length-the first thing i tell our students is i can teach the hows whys laws all the basic backround but all of this just enough to get yourself in major trouble or worse including dead-i do not sugar coat the fact that most of you will never make an arrest or even find a bondsmen to give you a case--there have been some i taught that i would not trust to hold my notebook and some i would go through any door with any time--all of this is just my opinion on traing courses--by the way i believe good beas are born with certain instincts and we can bring them out with training and certain people can train hard for life and never be any good--again just my opinion

To address the issue on who did what kind of training, whether it be an online course or a course at a facility that trains in this industry, as long as you are following the laws and doing your job according to them, there is no difference.

This industry has a bad reputation as it is and we all need to be in support of each other. What I see happening with some of these postings is that there seems to be a personal grudge match going on.

Yes, there are some cowboys in this industry and I have also known where some agents have been under the influence of alcohol/drugs while functioning in the capacity of an FRA. Which in my book there is no excuse for. This is the type of behavior that gives this industry a bad name.

Here is an idea, why don't we all work together to clean up this industry and work to give it a good name.
