Hey I am just getting started in Fugitive Recovery. I am in the process of obtaining my carry and conceal permit and within the next couple months will be attending training classes to Become Certified with the N.A.B.E.A. Just starting out though I do have a few questions. After obtaining the permit to carry and conceal, becoming certified and purchasing all my equipment needed. What is the best advice for landing a job with a bail bonds agency as a Fugitive Recovery Agent? Also Im pretty sure I have most of it down but is there any recommendations as to what equipment I may need once I get going? Any Advice will be greatly Appreciated.

Where do you intend to work? Certification terminology is thrown around loosely in this business, so you need to make sure you are compliant with local rules first. Before you spend money on a class, make sure it satisfies your local state rules.

Welcome and best of luck!

Scott

Welcome to the Forum.

Please go to the "Introduction" section and post a proper introduction,
including a correct signature line.

Try going to the Agency Directory here on the forum and make contact
with someone on the list in your state and see if they will allow you to
do some intern work with them.

Last but not least, please read as much as you possibly can on this
site, as many of the questions you may have will be answered just by
reading.

Good luck in your endeavors.

Best advice I can give you is to gain an understanding of the bail industry within your local area and state. I'll echo what my peers have said already. Know the regulations that outline fugitive recovery operations.

Purchase as little gear (Cuffs/case, flashllight/case, OC/case, baton/case, if you decide firearm/holster and don't gear up with SWAT clothing...Only makes you look like a cowboy) as you possibly can get by with until you begin to earn a name for yourself and income. ENSURE you have a certification for the items you carry on your person. If not, you will certainly become jammed up with law enforcement. This is a tough business and it is not nearly as sexy as it appears on television.

Bail Bondsman write bail with the hope their defendant abides by the conditions of bail...Not with the hope of the defendant skipping and costing the bondsman time and money. This is very important to understand. When introducing yourself to bail bondsman, wear appropriate attire (not SWAT BDUs) dress well. Dress slacks, a nice polo style shirt, sport jacket and shined shoes will place a good opinion in the bail bondsman's head when you are handing he or she a business card. Speak professionally, attend events and be patient. Getting off the ground will take time.

Best wishes!
