I just got mine this year through Kern County where I live. Kern seems to be a bit more reasonable when it comes to issuing a CCW. San Berdo I'm not so sure about. I used as my reasoning for issue the fact that in addition to bail I also work as a process server and a notary public. I oftentimes as a process server run into people that I have served papers to in the local stores. I am often called to perform work in remote areas of the county where a response from LE may be delayed due to the size of the county. I often work alone and almost always paid up front, therefore carrying cash (they do not specify what qualifies as a significant amount of cash, but someone desperate enough may harm you over $60). Many areas that I may be called to work in often have people that do not "appreciate" my work and I may be seen as an easy target to take their personal fustrations out on. This worked for me. Stay away from needing personal protection and the always negatives: It's your second amendment right to bear arms, just cause you want one or anything smearing LE. They don't like that. Hope this helps. Fit it to your situation and good luck.

I have a friend ( yah I do have a couple) that lives in Fresno. She just filled out the papers did the process and got it. Damn Santa Clara County Ive applied several times DENIED. Ive been a County Emolyee for 24 years squeekie clean record and as a Bail Agent "carry alot of cash and bonds". No go. Unless you have spent big money or have some political assistance for our Sheriff forget it. Sad times.

What also sucked was the fact that I had taken a PC 832 firearms course, but when I went in to submit the paperwork the Sheriff's Office did not accept that as a valid training course for CCW. Same training but CCW tells you to wear big clothes and goes over brandishing a bit more. A boon for the CCW class instructors here. But it was good training nonetheless. Had to wait a few more weeks til the next class before I could resubmit my papers and livescan. Money and time...money and time. Wish I had a lot more of both but I'm getting there.

Its the good articulation of WHY you need one ;0)
