Well you know the ol Hank Williams song "A Country Boy Can Survive"....

Almost every civilization, since the dawn of time, only lasted approximately 500 yrs before undergoing a massive change, coup, decimation, invasion, etc.

1500's - 2000's = 500+ and counting.

Also consider the possibility that if our founding fathers were alive and well today and advocated a new government, they would be considered domestic terrorists.
