I know a lot of you are informed gadget freaks and I need some good intel...
I got a slide copier for Christmas... it was a POS... I returned it and now I am interested in trying to find a good quality... but not particularly expensive unit that I can convert slides and/or negatives to digital images.
I have googled and researched but need first hand info from somebody that uses whatever??

my brother has one that is awesome. I will see if I can't find out the manufacturer. But I am sure that there are some real informed folks here that love playing with that kinda stuff, so you will have answer real quick like. What if the POS is the real deal and you just aint figured out how to hold your mouth right and use it and have you tried to ask one of your kids how to do it ?

RESOLVEDOk... for what it's worth... and I know you are all waiting with baited breath for an update on this important and timely subject... I returned the POS to the company, who graciously agreed to provide my lovely wife with a credit on her card. Several years ago, I got an Epson Perfection 1640SU Photo Scanner for Christmas... over the years I used it but upgraded to an "HP All in One" Scanner, copier, fax... dish washer, vacuum cleaner, HDTV, bullet reloader, TASER and automatic car starter... it serves my purposes well... and the little Epson was retired to the attic with the rest of the junk that I didn't give to my kids over the last 40 years... Well, I got to thinking (an unusual, dangerous and infrequent activity) that if memory served me... the Epson would copy slides (Scott-one in your backyard) so I climbed the stairs to the attic and dug through a pile of ........ stuff...... and located the scanner and attachments... of which a slide copier was included!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I installed it on one of my laptops that I put on the dinning room table (Gail was extremely happy with that arrangement) and after about 2 hours of trying to download a new driver and software... which I did manage to do... I started copying pictures and slides... and it works so good that I am no longer interested in finding a unit for this purpose. So now I have wasted all your time and effort... I am sure that many of you have been searching for products to aid in my endeavor... well, thanks for the effort but its a done deal now............. thanks

Sno... you think I lie........... it is a HP Photosmart C7250... open the front... make sure it is turned on... put your tongue on the contacts in the back... if you don't hit the floor foaming and shaking... immediately... I'll buy you another scanner... THAT IS A TASER... the only trouble I have ever had is trying to get the SQ to lie down on the floor and put his tongue on the contacts and it is a little bulky to hook on your tac belt .... other than that it works great... end of tale... now I have to go to Food Lion (that is a local grocery store for those of you that live out west and don't have grocery stores) and get some hamburger for some chili............... just thought I would share that with you all.......
