Just wanted to thank Bill Marx, Mr. Perkins and his associates for thier assistance in a recent case I had in Richmond, Va. Althought they did not make the apprehension, they did conduct surveillance, run intel, conduct interviews, etc. Unfortunately for them and myself, The case was resolved last night with the voluntary surrender of the def to my client who is now a happy camper...:).....'cause he didn't have to pay out any money..... :|

Just another shining example of the power and comraderie of this network. I have no trouble recommending or endorsing these individuals for case work in thier areas.

Why, 'unfortunately'? Do you not get paid in this situation?

You guys are great, thanks for helping me too!

NO. In most cases, unless you have a recovery contract that covers every concievable way that a bond may get exonerated, which said contract would be a small novel.....most contract recovery agents only get paid if they "cuff n stuff". i.e. physically make the apprehension and turn the def into the jail personally.

Since the def voluntarily turned himself in, through no action of mine, I don't get paid. Unfortunately this happens from time to time. I can invest hundreds of man hours, dollars into an investigation, only to scare or pressure the def into surrendering him/herself to the jail personally. Some who know the system do this on purpose to save thier co-signer's recovery fees they would be billed if the bondsman has to pay a recovery agent; Others do it out of spite, simply to cheat the recovery agent out of his/her bounty fees.

I've had many a jailer tell me, that the def surrendered themselves as opposed to being captured by a bounty hunter with alot of expletives tossed in there. Just part of the "cops 'n robbers" game.

Well, let me say that I did not look for, nor expect payment... I can't speak for the other fellows but it just so happened that those FRA's were friends of mine and I think the word here is "professional courtesy". I happened to be two blocks from the fugitives house and just happened to have my 300mm Nikon and wife and dog and my black dark windowed van.... I was shopping at a store that was only two blocks from where this fellow was "supposed" to be... and after a bit of snooping by me , but mostly the other guys... Ray and whoever he had with him..... (I'm not sure of that) his location was confirmed... I sort of think the 'fug' may have turned himself in cause he probably got wind of his impending "slam" and decided to do the honest thing.......... "the easy way"... anyway.

From my standpoint...... you are more than welcome and I will say to you again..... Ruffin.... anytime you need something in my "neck of the woods" ....... you got my cell...... call me. I'm not as slick as you big time guys but sometimes maybe I can help out a bit....

I enjoyed it......... and BTW......... my wife did too......... she said............ "boy..... this is exciting... what are you gonna do if he comes running out of the house with a gun"... to which I replied in as calm and "masculine" deep voice as I could muster........... "well, WE will run like hell and hope he's a bad shot......" Image

Nope, you nor Ruffin owe me a thing.... remember my boy... I am retired and I have nothing to do but ride around the country trying to get into trouble..... I am not at all wealthy in money, but friendship means more to me than dollars anyway.... that is why "I am always broke but always smiling".

When my kids decide to let me "work the phones"... I get to write a few bonds and that puts gas in my boat.... which is all I need to do anyway............

Bill, you work a lot like I do. We work together, we help each other out, and that is why our network is successful. Those that don't understand how we work together need to make the connections, understand the connections, prove themselves, etc. We don't accept everyone, but we do our best to support and promote those that make the attempt and prove themselves worthy of our respect. It isn't easy, but it is worthwhile!
