hey,
I am new to the forum and would like to take a moment to say hi to everyone.
I met a guy that I work with who is currently doubling as a BEA. I am looking to take my class here in New Jersey next month. He has offered to let me tag along on a hunt with his team, this weekend. Is this something that you would advise or is this not a good idea? Essentially, I would just be an onlooker. I would not participate in any manner.
I live in Jersey City

Check your state laws..if you're not licensed, you can not be in the same car doing an apprehension...you're asking for trouble...read the FAQ section of the forum..

Who are you taking the class from? If it is USRB you are wasting your money if you want any work from here.

I will be taking the class through Scott Olson and NIBE. I heard that there is a bail enforcement school in Bayonne, NJ, but, I am finding out that a NIBE sponsored training may be more to my benefit.
Also, this past Sat, I spoke on the phone with Yak and he gave me a few pointers.

You are doing well in taking Scott's class, and Yak won't steer you wrong. We tend to be leery when people say they are taking a class in NJ because of USRB. I wish you the best of luck!

No, I looked at USRB but
1. they seemed a bit expensive as compared to other schools
2. I did addition research and found that they were considered shady
Here in New Jersey, currently there is no licensing required to be a BEA. But, I am not oblivious to the fact that training is needed.

Scott Olsen's class is well respected, and he won't make false promises. You will be trained in the legal and correct manner. You will still have to gain experience and prove yourself, but you are getting an excellent start.
"Shady" is only one opinion that many share of the USRB. If you use the search function on this site, you will find many posts about their reputation.

it is my understanding that licensing is REQUIRED in Nj now. They are just a bit behind with enforcing it.
Again, I defer you to Yak.

Actually, Yak is who I got my information from. It seems that the framework of the bill is in place, but they have been unable to get it passed. So at this time I would be ok.
