Ok I am confused, how is it that he is still able to work in the state of Colorado. I thoguth that with the new laws, you are not allowed to have a felony. with that you could not be a BEA. Did he get grandfather or something?

Or am I missing something with in the laws?

Does the law apply to non-residents ? Or, is A&E paying someone off ...Again ?

you know I don't every remember reading anything about non resdients. I just assumed that you had to be a residient. Something to look into that is for sure.

Or they are paying people off, that would not surprise me one bit. Cause the things that he does on his shows when he is here in CO are diffently not what I learned that is for sure.

So that would explain why no one has busted him. When he is running around in broad day light with those pepper ball guns and all that tact gear and no one ever calls the LE. Come on give me a break. In Denver they will call LE on just about anything.

Im not positive, and I havent checked the law in a while, but I do believe that an out of state bondsman or bea can pick up in CO with no problems. As long as your legal in your home state. I also believe that Dog gets away with alot of BS because of AE and the fact that most of his pickups are staged. I sincerely doubt that very many are actual hunts.

Its just a show. It hurts my teeth to watch, so I dont. I watched a little of the new show of the gal in AZ and my teeth started hurting so I quit watching it too, in less than one episode.

Again, these are just my opinions and obsevations.

Colorado doesn't have any restrictions against outside agents coming here to hunt.

The law regarding in-state BEA's is that they have to be felony free for 15 years. We don't have licensing, but you have to have a certificate of completion for a 16 hour P.O.S.T. certified course.

I have seen where they are passing a new law regarding PI's to be licensed, but what I read only included a background check and paying some unnamed fee to the state for registration and an ID card. I'll have to see if I can find any updates.

Thats what I thought Kathy. I have only picked up a couple in CO, both in "the springs", and had no problems when notifying LE.

However, I have ignorantly picked up in AZ, LA and several other states that the laws I read were outdated and I wasnt supposed to. LE didnt give me any trouble in those cases either. Go figger.

I get the " get your trash out of here, we got enough of our own" from LEs all over the country more than anything.

I have to spend a few minutes with just about every out of state fugitive case I get explaining AZ. Law. "Don't feel bad for not knowing." I had an exective from a large Bail Bonds Co. in Sacramento tell me she had never heard of that and why hadn't that ever come up before." Meaning the contracting with state licsensed Bail Bondsmen. I say I couldn't speak for anyone else but myself. "I think at one point she thought it was a scaam to get a higher fee." A phone call and a fax is all it takes in the end though.

Mark,
When I did that pickup, it was kinda different. It was a 50K skip, I made a post about it earlier. MY skip. We had tracked him to Boise ID. Found out he went to Prescott AZ. In Prescott, we talked with LE (and Chino Vallley). We talked to a bondsman as well. He didnt know the law either, obviously. No one told us our law info was wrong.

We found out where he was staying there and that he had went on to Quartzsite. We got there and found him. After finding him, we went to the police dept and got a cop to go with us, explaining our situation, showing our paperwork and explaining he was desperate and basically wanted the cop there in case there was violence, ie killing, we didnt know what this guy was capable of. He had raped his own 14yr old daughter and was going away for a long, long time. The cop called his superior and he said to go with us. It went down smooth and nothing was ever said about what we were supposed to do. Not by any LE or bondsman we had contact with. I take full responsibility as ignorance of the law is no excuse, but with the info I had, and my 50k in sight after 5 days on the road at that point, I wasnt about to abort.

Same with New Orleans. I went there 4 times last year for differnt skips. I knew I was supposed to get a local bondsman to go with me. Each time I was told by bondsmen and LE to just go get them out of there. Call if I needed them. Same in multiple trips to OK.

It may bite me in the ass sometime, I try to play by the rules, but thats the way it works lots of times.

I found where the proposed regulation of PI's in CO has been initially rejected and indefinitely tabled. The state study found that regulating the currently unregulated industry would be of no use or benefit to the state or the public.

However, I found that one city has licensing, so it is not prohibited on a local level. I need to research what their requirements and fees are. Maybe others will follow suit.

I don't have a problem with licensing, but what the state was proposing was shaky at best at giving any more validity to our credence.
