To address Kathy's comments first, yes, there is a way for Texas leo's to obtain a PI license. However, the process would take longer than the company I'm applying with will wait (I've asked). I can't speak for their business practices but I'm sure it has something to do with the common business aspect of them keeping their own costs down and having a self employed IC be responsible for all of their own business expenses. I have checked the company out extensively and everything is fine. As for Bail Mo's, "I would think a LEO would know that" comment, as stated several times in several previous posts, I am well aware of the reasons behind, as well as the necessity of them checking us out. That is not my issue. I won't repeat myself but instead invite you to read my previous posts. Tsuggs, I wouldn't be working as a PI but only finding info to assist in collecting debts (which is exempt from PI licensing in Texas). Being that I would only be working to obtain updated debtor information, it's more of a debt collection type job, but again, it's not debt collecting. It's basically a unique niche in the credit market. As long as my debtor locate service does not use any of my leo resources and is not done on the clock, it's fine both legally and as far as department policy goes. If I was actually contacting debtors, and while I did that I was wearing a leo uniform or something, that would be a completely different and completely illegal story. Even on that note, in the past I have worked delivering collection notices to debtors in person and my department was fine with it as long as there was absolutely nothing connecting me with law enforcement while I did that job (I didn't even have my badge or gun in the car much less on me while I did that). I completely understand and appreciate everyone's points, even those who made their points in a very f-ed up fashion. It basically comes down to the fact that as long as there is a very clear separation between my leo job and my information services job, I'm fine.
tsuggs
It's not credit application information but rather bank account info. The company is MicroBilt and they have access to account holders actual bank account applications that the individual filled out when they applied for the bank account. This usually consists of the opening date, individual's employer, personal and or business references, emergency contact info (close family member) etc. See bailmo, this leo might just know a little something, lol.

I think you took my post wrong. I was alluding to the fact of how much you will be checked out before being let into any database. I can see how your gonna have problems if you dont have a business license, PI license, bail license, ect.... Your not going to be accepted anymore than I would if I tried to access NCIC.
I had no sarcasim in the intent of my post. Thats a problem in the 2D world of the internet sometimes.
Good luck.

No problem. Happens all the time.
You answered my question too. With the data you have access too as a LEO, you should have more than you need, in most cases. But I can see where using that would be a big problem.
I know I work pretty close with LEOs around here all the time. Sometimes they come to me for info they cant get. Sometimes the other way around.
Again, good luck.

I agree Luvonda. It takes a special breed to do what we do. And that breed, at least the ones that last, have their own ideas sometimes. But thats good.
Im sure not afraid to say what I think, I know that much. But at the same time, I like to keep peace when I can. Especially when I see that someone mistakes what Im trying to say. Im the first to admit Im not the best at expressing myself sometimes. I get in a hurry and take shortcuts and can be taken different ways. Sometimes its my fault and sometimes its the dimension of the internet.
Its all good.

I am guessing Mr. Garrison is referring to me. That's fine. However, in my opinion, his questions had been answered, yet he continued to try to find a way to "beat" the system. It almost came across as crying, whining, and pleading. This behaviour gave cause to the suspicion that perhaps he was not legitimate.
It would have saved a heck of alot of time for all concerned if he had simply presented his problem in an all-informative post:
"Dear group, please alow me to introduce myself......." Followed by this is my problem : I am an active duty leo seeking supplemental income by working as a financial investigator for microbilt.com....."
You folks get the drift.
Also Mr. Garrison it was a test. A fraud would of had to have the last word with cussing, venting, and name calling. We've all seen it before. A legitimate professional will intelligently meet the challenge and hold thier ground.
You are probably aware of this as it is a common practice among experienced leo's. So you rose to my challenge, you held your position, and you offered further clarification.
What you are not aware of are the number of criminals that try to get accepted on this site...some do get by us, but not for long.
Ex.: Michael Barber
Hadley Dorfman
Anthony Oliver
Just to name a few. So maybe now you can understand my methods and logic for my seemingly butthole behaviour.
