Tony ... You SIR have replaced the 2 Scott's and Lance as my TRUE AMERICAN HERO! I agree with Ruffin that your letter will have NO impact with the WHORES at PBUS. But, You ROCK!

Tony,
I have never met you. I dont really know you other than the posts I have read in the short time I have been on this board.

Respect is not a word that I throw around alot. Respect is something that is earned and gained over time. Sometimes it takes longer than others. Having said that, I cant say I have total respect for you as I dont know you well enough. But, and its a big ole butt like mine, LOL, if that is represenative of your actions in daily life, and your convictions and willingness to stand up for them, you have earned my respect. For what thats worth. It does mean something to me.

Kudos my cyber friend. Im proud of you. I wish I could have been there myself.

Andy

Thank all of you for the kind words! It was a very hard decision to make.

I enjoyed meeting many wonderful bail and recovery agents at the annual conferences such as Rex and Scott ( the Maryland Scott ).

I thought for a while that I could continue to be a member and push for change from within. However, as the saying goes, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." Pun intended!

Being an old dog myself, I have to be more selective with the battles I choose to fight.

Tony;

Let's THINK about what you have done. Let's SEE if you can answer YES to any of the following questions:

1. My membership to PBUS has paid for it self.
2. I have received MANY bond referals, because I am a member of PBUS.
3. My membership FEES go to enacting laws that will benifit me.

I bet you answered NO to each question! PBUS is a association of WHORES, who could care LESS about their members. Take that to the bank, my friend!

Tony the Tiger!!!! Go with your bad self!!!

I, too, have written to PBUS detailing negative situations but all to no avail. They never replied nor called. To my way of thinking, they're morality level is about two points below that of plant life. I've said it for many years... PBUS doesn't give a rat's patootie about BEA's... real or imagined.

When they contracted with the Chapmans to speak at their yearly get-together, that disgusting act was proof positive they have absolutely no concept of what we do in the field. They seek paper heroes who violate the law and degrade the bail industry in general. They speak as if they are all-knowing as regards fugitive recovery when, in fact, they haven't a hint of what the reality of it all is.

It's a sad shame that the same people seem to be recycled time and time again on their Board of Directors. There should be some young blood in there and the group of "good old boys" all need to retire and languish in Hawaii with their token felon.

PBUS can kiss my Yankee backside, that is whenever they get out of bed with Duane and Beth.

I don't give a sour >explective< who doesn't like what I have to say about PBUS either so to those of you who usually send emails denouncing my tirades about PBUS... you can kiss my Yankee backside, too! And if you have any friends in the old country... they can kiss it right after you do.

I hope everyone reads this before its gets deleted.

One of the reasons that I never joined PBUS is because of the posts I read about their "good old boy" mentality whereby their main goal was to collect the dues, put on annual "shows" and collect more money, but do nothing for the industry that doesn't line their pockets or benefit them. I'm speaking of the board, not the general population. This is not the only industry this happens in. In every case, it proves a detriment to other smaller orgainzations, because they are judged by the actions of the large ones. Same as we are judged by TV theatrics and news reports of what some do wrong, versus what most do right.

Most people are sheep who act and believe as they are told, so will support what they are told to support. They have some "God-like" respect for those who they perceive to be in power or control them, so won't stand up and fight it. I am proud of you, Tony, for standing up and following your convictions. If every member who felt the same would do the same, it may have some impact. Too bad most of the members are sheep instead of Weasels Image.

That is why I consider the various professional forums to be much more valuable than an impersonal organization that I do not feel will truly represent me or my ethics or goals. In the forums, we share knowledge, ideas, goals, and personalities that are not gained from a meeting of hundreds of people. We may not see each other face to face, or even from phone calls, but we build relationships from our posts and online conversations that allow us to "know" each other. I'm not saying that networking and meeting people at a convention is a bad thing, but if the contact is not followed up on and the people do not form a relationship, you may as well be making a phone call from the yellow pages.

It is the personal relationships, trust, and respect that we build with each other that really matters. We each have our own ways of doing things, but that is not bad. We learn to respect and/or trust each other based on our individual experiences as posted, or from personal experiences with each other, as well as who to contact for a reference when we need a referral in a particular area.

Just as networking with someone at a convention is a risk, so is using someone on a forum. There are people who I would call in a heartbeat, and others that I wouldn't, simply because from their posts, I know that we would clash. This isn't saying anything bad about them or their work, just that my personality and theirs' would create a problem. I don't arbitrarily write off a person just because someone else does, but may be more careful about using them based on what I personally learn. I think most of us are the same way???

I give most people achance to prove themselves 1 way or the other. I start of by asking can you do this ? A simple yes or no question. It is not a negative thing if you say no.

Better to be honest, than to say yes, and then blow the case entirely.

Always be honest about your capabilities.

I have met , sat down and talked with Tony regardiing the professionalism (or lack thereof) of people in this business. He is one of the true professionals we have. In fact, I have recently found myself comparing new bail agents I meet to Tony and, in some cases, have turned down work because of that. I, too, was once a member of PBUS and resigned for the same reasons. Stay strong, Tony! You know you have the respect of the real professionals in this business!!

Steve,

The answer to your 3 questions is no, no and no. But I did meet several "honest" agents at the conferences and learned a few new ideas.

However, my first thoughts was to try to work as an insider to change the mentality of the organization. Sorry to those that believe that one person can change the world but, I have neither the time, money or energy to fight that battle with the PBUS.

Other than getting hundreds to join and force a change, I don't see much chance of me and a few others doing much good. Maybe if I got others who are currently members to join a boycott or quit, that might shake things up enough to make a change.

In previous posts, I had suggested that more recovery agents should join and voice the issues they have with the PBUS. At this time I would not suggest that.
