To all you Ladies and Gentlemen that are truly professional bail agents and recovery agents, you have my deepest respect. I just left the PBUS meeting this morning that featured Beth Chapman, as I guess a motivational speaker. I can say that there was a lot to be desired in not only in her presentation but her professionalism. Actually her lack of professionalism.

Her talk was OK. Nothing earth shattering, inspersirational or educational. There was a Q&A afterwards. Most questions were softball, drippy love fest type questions.

So when the topic of the Luster arrest came up and how it was performed, I asked a simple question. "Who hired them to go arrest Luster?"

Mr Chapman started to answer then Mrs Chapman jumped in. Blaming a "group" from New Hampshire for going to Mexico to tell the authorties there to arrest Mr. Chapman and a California "director of a bail agent association for writing the court to ask that the court deny the Chapmans any part of the bail forfeited."

Now the story I heard was that they did not want the award. Then later they wanted a reward. Finally today they said they wanted their expenses paid for capturing Luster. So I don't know what is the true facts.

However, back to the meeting.

So, the answer both of them shouted to me was that, being a U.S. citizen, anyone has the right under the U.S Constitution to make a felony arrest of a wanted fugitive. I tried to ask a follow up question and was talked over by Mrs Chapman that went like this:

"If you sir are in a convienence store and you see a robbery going down and you don't do something, you are a WEASEL! You have the obligation to do something!"

So what did that have to do with Luster?

So Mr Chapman had to talk over her and stated,

" I arrested a guy wanted for 86 rapes and return him to justice........"

Could not hear all the rest because Mrs Chapman was shouting and acting like she does on television.

At that point I started to walk out and she yelled out did I answer your question. I stated no you didn' t, but actually they did as no one hired them or gave them any legal authority to enter a foreign country to arrest anyone.

So, I'm now famous.

I AM THE WEASEL :D

Does this mean that you get to live in the weasel house instead of the "dog" house????
Gotta love it, do people truly not SEE these people for what they are?
Don't answer that, I already know -
have a good time (behave and keep all the boys in line so that Beth can't whine).

Good job, Tony. Maybe PBUS will finally realize that the Chapmans are NOT the image they want to portray to "up" their membership.

Quite awhile ago when I first found this site, there were some posts that were very negative against the PBUS. I responded to some of them in defense of the PBUS. At that time I believed that the majority of the PBUS members that I met over the last 6 years mainly at the Feb conferences in Vegas, were truly aware of the problems within the bail industry / profession. I believed that they were acutely aware of the negative image that we had / have.

Today, when the majority of those attending the forum by Mrs Chapman gave her and the crew several standing ovations, it was like I was being stabbed in the gut with a dull knife.

When they failed to answer a simply question that I asked and turned it into a personal attack, the Weasel comment, and then go on to blame the CA Bail Agents Assoc. and a group from New Hampshire, it again received applause from the attendees.

If the PBUS is going to use the Chapmans as representatives of the bail profession, then the profession is in deep trouble. Their actions are anything but professional.

I'm sure over the next day or so I will hear from the PBUS leaders. Depending on what I hear from them will determine whether or not I continue to belong to the organization.

On a positive note, Rex and Scotts presentation this afternoon was top notch. A difference of night and day of how true professional bail and recovery agents operate compared to a circus act.

LuVonda,

Even my wife said she was proud of me. 8)

So I guess I'm out of the "dog" house. The problem is, 3 of the 4 of our pomeraneans take over my side of the bed when ever I leave town.

I'm going to have to fight them to get my bed back!

Look out Rocky, Pongo and Purdy. The Weasel is coming home!

We have two American Hairless Terriers who sleep under the covers with us. They bury down at whatever level is comfortable is for them, but James usually kicks them down until they end up at our feet.

Since they have absolutely no hair, they are just like a human walking around naked. I try to keep clothes on them in the winter, but they chew them up, so usually end up naked and cold. These are my babies, Brandy on the left, and Skipper on the right They have been known to attack and break skin when protecting each other or one of us.

The pic was too big, so I jut deleted it...

I find it absolutely "disgusting" that PBUS had the Chapmans speak for the second time at their meeting. I hope whomever stood in standing ovation to the Chapmans... well, never mind. Those who know me can fill in the blanks.

Many years ago, following the debacle in Arizona where criminals posing as bounty hunters killed two people, I knew then that PBUS represented nothing more than to serve their own hidden agendas and fueled negative impacts on bail enforcement with their own biased lusts. The PBUS board members ran around like cockroaches under a light doing what they called "damage control" when, in fact, all they accomplished was to establish a training program at a Mississippi college that cost a couple thousand dollars (not to mention additional money for lodging, travel and staples) that not one person attended.

I've said it for years and I'll say it again... PBUS doesn't give a rat's patootie about the recovery end of the bail industry. As far as they're concerned we are mere peasants sucking on lemon rinds under an uncaring sun.

By hosting the Chapmans, PBUS is, in essence, condoning and promoting all the illegalities they perpetrate.

PBUS is a joke, a farce and a zit on the butt of bail recovery agents!!!
