On a more serious note,

If you need any reason to join NABBI, attend our conferences and actvively be involved, read the articles from this group.

http://www.justicepolicy.org/news/4365

This is what we are facing people. Groups actively trying to put you out of business. And they have the blessing and support of your federal government.

I am old enough and fortunate enough that I could live off my wife and be Mr Mom. What about you youngsters? What will you do if tomorrow you business was yanked out from under you?

We can all sit around and complain or we can all get together and educate the public, members of the CJS and the politicians as to why private surety bail is the best system to keep.

So, what are you going to do now....

This JPI is a crock. If you are so concerned about the treatment of the criminal, how about treating the problem before the crimes are committed? The paper states that pretrial protects the community...How? They are clearly pro big government and anti private business and they say so. This will result in another bloated government waste project at the expense of all of us tax payers because criminals just have to be coddled. There is no consideration that those in prison that can't make bond is because they have burned all of their family members. There is no consideration that those in jail are not responsible family members and may not support any family if they were released. There is plenty of data that says that when released they continue to break the law and prey on honest citizens. What upsets me is there may need to be judicial reform, so that should be the focus, not attacking an industry that works, at no cost to the tax payer. What is worse is that they portray us to be evil blood suckers and the criminals are the victims...? Here is a word for you ACCOUNTABILITY

Scott

ok serious note.

Being brand new to this industry and gaining experience. I'm looking forward to this conference as great supplemental training to the basic course that we get here in VA.

I agree with Tom. This is gonna be an very educating and informative session for myself as well. Ive been in the industry for a few months and been working under one of the best in the business but I still have so much more to learn... However, I did notice one session on Tuesday that I am not looking forward to.... The Taser certification... I have been tased before and it hurt like a sonofabitch. But if its in the name of education I will take one for the team... Lookin forward to meeting everyone this weekend and learning from some of the heavy hitters in this industry

I just finished reading the article posted by Tony... absolutely the main reason for joining NABBI and supporting our cause.

The article is frankly.... for lack of a better word.... scary.... all need to read this and think about its implications to our industry.

I would really like to hear from some of the more connected and astute member here. We need informed and educated members to address this issue and provide us with statistics that support our side. I think much of the data involve in this report is certainly one sided. We all know data can be flipped and manipulated in any direction to support an agenda, sure would like to get the real skinny on this.

See all in Philly.
