Mom, daughter charged after struggle chase; bondsman was trying to make arrest
By Ron Bartlett

A Palatka mother and daughter were arrested Monday for attacking a bail bondsman after first striking his car with their own, then beating him, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies arrived on the scene at Palmetto Street after receiving a call from the victim, a 25-year-old bail bondsman from Palatka who told them he was attempting to arrest Jacqueline A. Allen, 41, wanted on six active warrants in Putnam County. When he found the woman, who was at a tire shop, she was in a car with her mother, Pearline M. Wilson, 59.

As the women attempted to flee from the man, they allegedly struck the front of his vehicle, then put their car in reverse and hit it a second time, battering the driver’s side door as the man was trying to get in, a sheriff’s report said.

The report continued to say that, as the man started his car and attempted to pursue Allen, her two daughters, 18 and 17 years old, sat on his hood to prevent him from leaving. When the girls finally removed themselves, the bail bondsman followed Allen’s car to the intersection of Reid Street and State Road 19.

Two highway patrolmen were in the area and were contacted by the man, who explained that he was following the suspect who struck his car.

The bail bondsman and the two state troopers then caught up with Allen’s vehicle on West Palmetto Street, where a traffic stop was initiated. The report said when the victim tried to take Allen into custody, her mother allegedly jumped him from behind and began hitting him in the back of the head with a closed fist and tore his shirt. The two state troopers then separated the three. Soon after, Allen’s two daughters arrived and stated that nothing had happened.

Allen and Wilson were both booked into the Putnam County Jail, with Allen charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and the outstanding warrants. Wilson was charged with misdemeanor battery.

Interesting article. There was nothing here that showed Wilson hit or hurt Allen in any way, yet he was charged with a misdemeanor.
