JACKSON, Miss. -- A Madison bounty hunter has been arrested in an undercover drug operation.
Paul Fish, 39, is charged with delivery and possession of cocaine with a firearm.
Fish works with bonding companies to catch suspects who have jumped bail.
Agents from the Madison County Sheriff, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alleged that Fish sold them cocaine at an informant's house in Jackson on Tuesday night.
The agents then confiscated what they called a "legal" arsenal of weapons, including several assault rifles, handguns, bulletproof vests, piles of ammunition and a gas mask.
Officers said they also found clothes that said "police" on them, along with two badges.
"He's portrayed himself for years as deputy sheriff, Bureau of Narcotics agent, federal agent, several proclaimed law enforcement officers. We just never had enough on him to make an arrest," Sheriff Toby Trowbridge said.
Trowbridge said Fish has never worked for a law enforcement agency.
Owners of the Chunn Bonding Co. in Ridgeland told 16 WAPT that Fish occasionally worked for the company and claimed to be a former MBN agent.
Fish is being held at the Madison County Detention Center without bond and will have an initial court appearance Thursday morning.
