A third defendant, bounty hunter Lester L. Kissinger Jr., settled out of court. Details of that settlement were unavailable.

So the fine was MORE than $1000.00 @ They were placed into a special probation program that they have since completed.

Seems to me that they got off lightly. If this happened in NJ, it would have been tenfold easily.

Where do these people come from?

Do this is FL and you will get charged with :

BURGLARY/WITH ASSAULT OR BATTERY - (Punishable By Life) NO BOND ! (Until you go for an Arthur Hearing)
(Armed? Article didnt state if they were ?) Kidnapping - NO BOND ! (Until you go for an Arthur Hearing)

So you would be sitting in Jail for an Easy 2..3.. weeks before you could go for a Bail Hearing..

These guys should count their lucky stars and retire and call it a day ..
