I know this sounds slightly skewed. The gentleman in this article is also listed in the local directory. I was going to post on this when it happened, but I was in Duluth, MN searching for a defendant that had to be returned to Evanston, WY. Of course, TSuggs posted it
Mr. Boyer has been doing recovery work in Billings for the last 11yrs. He does have a criminal history, and the bondsman and Repo companies still employ him. I've met him many times and have gotten along with him over time (as he is exceptional at doing his job when he is doing it). Unfortunately, we live in the Big Horn Region where pretty much all the surrounding states of Wyoming has very little to no regulations. I ran into him yesterday at YCDF (Yellowstone County Detention Center) while picking up booking photos and certified copies of Warrants from the Court Clerks. Currently, he is still out on $30,000 bond and has his driver's license pulled. But that has not stopped him from doing recoveries (as his wife works with him). He is fighting these charges, as he claims the Billings Gazette inaccurately reported what happened.
$30,000 bond.... kind of makes me wonder.
I did, however, tell him that as a courtesy to him, I would give him my one warning that if he missed court, I would gladly escort him back into custody
His response, was that he'd rather have a professional like me pick him up than have to taser some wannabe...
Of course, since his little "incident" I have picked up more work in Billings again. I lost business up there because too many people were undercutting the industry standards... some places just love cheap labor, even at the cost of liability. (Could you imagine if this above situation had a defendant in the vehicle?)
