NORMAN — A Cleveland County inmate remains at-large today after escaping from the county jail Tuesday.
Timothy Michael DeClark, 30, of Norman, escaped about 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release from Sheriff Joe Lester. Jail personnel with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office were releasing prisoners who had posted bail and were eligible for release, and DeClark walked away during the process.
DeClark had recently arrived at the jail and was being processed, the release stated. He had not been assigned to a holding cell.
Lester said his office has started a criminal investigation on the escape, along with an internal evaluation on how the inmate was able to walk away. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies are helping in the search for DeClark.
DeClark has outstanding warrants for probation violations, receiving stolen property, forgery, malicious injury to property and possession of a firearm after a conviction.
Anyone with information on DeClark's whereabouts is asked to call the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office at 321-8600 or the law enforcement agency in one's area.
