Former tow truck driver returned to jail

10:04 AM EDT on Thursday, May 3, 2007

A federal judge has sent Joe Pappas, a former private tow truck operator, back to jail for violating the terms of his supervised release.

In the 1990’s, the city and the state shut down his towing operation. He went to prison, for among other things, bank fraud.

Authorities say Pappas was charged with assault and domestic violence in Vermont, involving a loaded 9-milimeter Glock handgun.

Pappas was also going by another name, Vincent Zito and was caught in New Mexico by Federal authorities.

He once scoffed at his grand jury indictment, saying, “A grand jury would indict a ham sandwich.”

Any update on this guy?
He is supposed to be released Feb 8th...but, we dont know if he is being let out, or, going to another jail. Hes in under his most likely real name....George Koufos (sp?) His other names were all borrowed from other people.
We cant seem to get any info calling the prison/FBI/US Marshels/ATF...
Any info on this scumball would be appreciated...

and exactly who are you and why do you need to know ?
Failing to obtain your desired information, then asking us to use our sources to find out for you is unprofessional simply because we don't know who you are or why you need to know.

I'm glad to see that the US Marshals/ prison/FBI/ATF do not release personal information. They are not always the most professional and some of them are worse bullies than the "criminals" they deal with but I guess there is always a fine line in law enforcement and apparently many have been on both sides of the fence (or should I say bars)
