I use my 2005 Dodge Neon, my 1997 Honda or my really old Ford F250 pickup. Don't have a cage in any of them and, if the person is restrained correctly, you don't need a cage.
The problem with using an old police vehicle is that they look like a police vehicle. And believe me, they bad guys KNOW what police vehicles look like. I want to be as inconspicuous as possible when I am working.

I believe the problem resides with people not knowing how to impose authority by being professional. These people must be applying for police jobs left and right, and keep getting rejected. I've met quite a few FBI, and SS agents, and they have made me feel more authority than most LEO's. They were not flashing guns or badges, but their professional statue reflected their autority to the point that even the LEO that were on scene did not dare to ask any questions and just seemed to move out of their way. Thats ok, I guess ill re-arrest the people that simply don't answer the door when they see Police wannabes, as they will open for me when I show up saying Papa John's! Be blessed!

I like my '08 CV for running around doing paperwork at the courts, shopping. I don't get parking tickets in it.
Recovery work is usually my p/u truck or the Boss's Mazda.
