It is not my intention to rub salt in this wound but if this man was wanted on assault charges with a weapon,why was the Bea not wearing his vest? This is absolutely a wake up call for all bondsman and Bea's,keep your eyes open and pay attention to your cases.sometimes I realise we kind of get into a sort of pattern when it comes to recovery,some may not appear as dangerous as others but we need to remember that even the people with the smallest of charges do not want to go to jail and given the opportunity will do everything they can to not go.Be aware and Be safe.
This tragedy should not go unpunished and will serve as a learning experience for all Bea's and Bondsman alike.This profession is competitive by nature but when something like this happens it hits home and I personally would not wish anything like this on any Bea or bondsman whether they are my competition or not.This man did not deserve to lose his life the way he did,My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
Rest in peace brother and know your journey has come to an end but your actions will continue to teach others,We will meet at the gates one day.

I was just talking to a General Agent here in Florida and he mentioned that sadly not only was this bondsman shot and killed right after Christmas, but I was just told that he was shot and killed in front of his wife who was with him on this pick up which they were doing for another bail bond company. How tragic.. Once again .. I can never say this enough .. = WEAR YOUR VEST when going to look for a skip !!! Could this be one of those instances when a call is received and you are out and a bout doing something and say . . . "You know exactly where your skip is at this very moment? Sure, I am out already I run over and do it". This is simply a tragedy  I watched the news video clip and his daughter stated that he ALWAYS wore his vest when doing a recovery. May his Family find the Peace that they so dearly deserve during this tragic time in their lives.

Picking up another Bondsman skip...I wonder if full disclosure about the defendant's history.
Not that it would've made a difference. Just makes me think about approaching every situation the same...it's deadly.

I'm not sure "full disclosure" is in the lexicon of many bail agents...the members here excluded of course.

Dont be afraid to interrogate your bondsman  Weapons? Do you think they will fight? How big are thier friends/family members? records? etc...

the guy that shot Gordon was not wanted on a aggravated assault charge, from what I understand that was a mistake with the media. He was wanted for failing to appear on a Violation of Probation reference possession of Meth. And he has never been arrested for violent crime before, but he does a Have a high speed chase on his record. and yes, he was shot in front of his wife.
Gordon was a good friend of my family, he worked for the Monroe County Sheriffs Office for 11 years before starting in the Bail Bond business 10 years ago. He interned and worked for my father before opening his own office in Okeechobee with his wife.
He was very knowledgeable, a seasoned vet, and a great person. If it happened to him it could happen to anybody.
