Virginia man flees bail bondsman. :o

Police dog joins chase.

Groundhog bites police dog.

Officer shoots groundhog (for rabies testing).

Meanwhile, fleeing man runs into traffic, gets hit by a car, and thus apprehended.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) — A Woodbridge man fleeing from a bail bondsman was struck by a car after running into traffic on Interstate 95, concluding a wild chase in which a police dog was bitten by a groundhog.

Prince William County Police said a bail bondsman tried to take 22-year-old Reginald Davis into custody Wednesday evening at a Woodbridge motel.

Police say Davis rammed the bondsman's car before fleeing on foot and hiding beneath an overpass.

A police dog unit joined the search, during which a groundhog bit the search dog, Titan. An officer shot the groundhog, which is being tested for rabies.

Police say Titan continued the search and found Davis, who ran onto I-95 and was struck by a car before being arrested.

Davis was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Meanwhile, fleeing man runs into traffic, gets hit by a car, and thus apprehended.

Reality can indeed be stranger than fiction. Could this skip have had a trained attack groundhog used to thwart police dogs ? I wish there was a like or share button on here.

Killer groundhogs thrive in south-side Virginia.... there really not bad to eat... sort of like a small pig.... in fact, the locals refer to them as "ground pigs".

Very deadly.... I use a .220 Swift with a 6.5X20 Leupold scope at around 300 yds.... that way, they can't get close enough to attack....

They can reek havoc on anything smaller than a large dog.... and can eat their weight in popcorn if left unattended in a den during a football game....

Looks like something out of a horror movie. I lived not to far from Punxsutawney and my only experience with Groundhogs is Punxsutawney Phil.

Chuck... seriously... the only thing these groundhogs will destroy is a garden... in quick order... if a groundhog bit somebody... I think they had better start taking rabies shots cause something was very, very wrong.... they are simply a large rodent... some can get up close to 25lbs... and yes... some of the locals do eat them... but killers??.... well, probably not to anything other than maybe a carrot....
